Fog, the Tree, and, Blooms

January 14, 2026 at 9:20 am by Claudia

This was the view the other morning.

I love a foggy morning and this one was spectacular.

We keeping adding an extra day to the Christmas tree’s time with us. I packed away all of the ornaments. It’s very dry, but there’s very little needle drop and we need to it stay a while longer. I mean, who cares, right? We’re happy with it.

And the over 60 year old snake plant is blooming. It didn’t bloom last year, but I had pruned some older shoots and it needed time to recover. The flowers (there are two shoots) came up in the midst of the newer growth.

Hey, Mom and Dad, your baby is awfully pretty. I miss you.

Today, I’m going to sort out the closet in the office/studio. Wish me luck!

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

We had fog a couple of days ago….eerie and dangerous, but still beautiful. Yesterday brought 50’s, sunshine and shorts for those that dared. Today…howling winds ugh. Almost afraid to look at tomorrow’s forecast lol.

I love that your senseveria blooms. Whatever you are doing….don’t stop. Enjoy your day! ;)

Keep enjoying your tree. It looks very pretty with just the lights. We still have our tree up, still decorated. Not in any hurry to take it down. We water it regularly and few needles have dropped. Your “fog” picture is very striking and atmospheric. Hugs, Elaine

We aren’t even watering ours because it reached the point where it was no longer absorbing water.

      Still very little needle drop.

      Stay safe, Elaine.

happy for you to have the tree and lights, that fog, that view, those blooms, each other … all wonderful!

feeling better here. not 100% yet, but enough that the “positive covid” line this morning was faint, and i went for a nice slow walk outside. only a mile, but it felt so good to be upright and especially outdoors in that 27-degree weather. :)

hope you, don and everyone else are well and safe and stay that way.

I, too, love a foggy morning. Some mornings there are only wisps to be seen in our little cove in the southern Appalachians. Other mornings the hill across the way is invisible.

This morning I read “We need all the beauty, all the small joys that are possible, to balance out the news . . . ” Hooray for lights on a holiday tree in the middle of January!

All good luck on the closet. I have so much to do in mine I don’t know where to begin!

I’m a big fan of tree and lights till you just can’t stand it anymore (or it becomes a trunk with a lot of bare branches!) It’s pretty with just the lights!

Have a productive day. It’s snowing here and icy — hopefully not headed your way!

Yes. They do, but it seems that not every plant flowers. All I know is that this very old snake plant does.

      Stay safe, Leslie.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
