Foggy Sunday

December 6, 2015 at 8:56 am by Claudia

12-6 foggy morning

Foggy morning.

I like a good foggy morning; always quiet, mysterious, and rather magical.

My ankle is getting a lot better. I’m still being very careful, elevating it, keeping it wrapped, but I can walk pretty darned well. At the end of the day it’s a bit sore, but really, it’s much better.

So that’s good news.

But I’m going a bit stir crazy. Yes, I’m reading and doing a bit of cleaning, if it doesn’t require too much footwork, and some laundry, but I haven’t braved the outdoors yet as my wrapped ankle is a bit bulky for my shoes. Don wanted to take me for a drive yesterday, but I demurred.

Maybe today. And I’m chomping/champing at the bit to go to IKEA – maybe Tuesday? – and get that darned desk! I looked up chomping/champing. ‘Champing at the bit’ is the original expression but it’s evolved to ‘chomping at the bit.’ Whatever. I’m eager, how about that?

12-6 comfort girl

Sweet girl needed some petting. She got some, of course.

She’s a bit peeved that the ‘tunnel’ isn’t open at the moment. I can’t maneuver her into the tunnel when there’s an ottoman with a pile of pillows right in front of me . Her routine is being messed with and she’s not happy.

That’s all I have for you today, my friends. More tomorrow.

Don’t forget to leave a comment on my book review from Thursday if you’re interested in winning a copy of the book. Tonight is the deadline. I’ll pick a winner late this evening.

Happy Sunday.

I am glad to hear the ankle is better. At least you can get around the house some now. The furry one’s do not like their routine changed do they? I had a great time with the Grands yesterday. Tiger was beyond excited and Scout saw the lights come on the tree and was mesmerized! The joy in their faces makes my day. Off to church as Sara and Blake are lighting the Advent candle today. Also the poinsettia’s in memory of will be in the church, I ordered one for my Dad this year. I hope you get out for a drive today.
    hugs,
    Linda

Precious, precious – there’s nothing more wonderful than watching the wonder in a child’s eyes as they see the lights on the tree. Have a wonderful day.

We got up really quickly from the breakfast table because the fog was slowly crowling in. But then, misteriously, the fog was blown away and we’ve had a sunny day! Which is nice for a change. Enjoy the indoors! :-) All the best, Regula

Pleased to hear that your ankle is improving!

Your girl looks so comfy! I’d bet she is getting a ton of extra TLC while her Mom is laid up. Our animals offer us so much comfort, don’t they?

I hope with another day of rest you will be good to go this coming week.

Me too. Petting Dame Scout and looking in her eyes goes a long way in speeding the healing process.

sorry to hear you were hurt. :(
    glad your ankle is healing.
    :)
hope for your sake and hers that you can make scout’s tunnel soon. :) :)

when you feel up to it, that ride to ikea and getting your desk sounds therapeutic and fun. especially if you also get some of their pepperkacker/ ginger cookies. :)

glad you got the parrish art (better luck on the egg cups)!

and yay for your scarves selling so quickly. deservedly so; they are beautiful.

hope you all have a nice day.

Morning! Glad your ankle is feeling better. I can understand that you are going stir crazy…hope you can go for that ride…at least see something different. This mild weather has been nice for Bowser…he really enjoys being outside on the deck. So, one of us is almost always on kitty duty as we like to call it….we ARE the kitty door! And, you would not believe how many times per hour he likes to go in and out! He’s so spoiled! But, that’s what most of us do…we spoil our fur babies…eh? Enjoy your day! ;)

So happy to hear you are feeling better. Rest is the magic that works. But, it is so hard to do!
We are pretty clear out this way today (of fog), but it is cloudy. My daughter texted this AM that it is extremely cloudy in downtown Madison where she lives. She is up on the 7th floor, so that may make a difference, too.
Baking cookies today. Mixed them all on Friday ~~ baking them all today. Good day for it.
One more day of rest will help!! An American in Paris is on this aft on Turner…. not sure if it is one you like, but a good one to snuggle on the couch with!

Claudia, I’ve always wondered what Scoutie’s “tunnel” actually is. I’ve been assuming it was your word for her favorite sleeping spot in your house. Maybe a snug nook between two pieces of furniture? Or wherever she likes her blankie etc. Our last dog, a toy fox terrier, was like a cat – always moving to wherever the sunny spot was on the carpet – LOL. PS – a GREAT photo of countryside fog. I was coming home from spending the evening with friends and I passed by a pond with a thick blanket of fog just hovering over the surface. I got the surreal-and-magical vibe too. Made me think of Camelot, and then of course, Brigadoon… ?

The tunnel is the space between my legs from the knee down and the chair I’m sitting in. Scout, from the day we adopted her, has always gone there. It’s her safe place.

Awww… you mean she packs herself into that spot whenever you sit down somewhere? She really doesn’t want you straying away, does she? That is SO cute…

I’m glad to read that your ankle is healing and hope you make it to Ikea. I live with a border collie who is neurotic about her routine and greets every deviation with great anxiety. Her internal clock is extremely accurate and her anxiety has her dancing around as a significant time approaches.

I hope Scout gets her tunnel back soon!

Must be a border collie trait, because Scout is the same way. Even as old as she is, she knows exactly when she should be served her dinner!

I understand about Scout. As a Christmas present to myself, I had some work done on my deck. My dog door leads onto the deck, so for a week my dogs were not allowed use of their dog door. I had to let them out the side door to take care of their needs. They were not happy. I’d like to have a dollar for every time one of them went to the locked dog door and scraped it with their paw. Pooches do like their routines, don’t they?

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.
