Balloon flowers and blooming ground cover in the memorial garden.

Not enough sleep last night. I woke up around 3 am and never got back to sleep. Then we woke up to no internet, so I had to call our provider and was told it was a large outage, perhaps due the storms we had on Wednesday, which hit some towns nearby very hard. We lucked out, with just a few twigs on the ground.

I was sure I wouldn’t be able to post today, but it came back around 7:30 am. So here I am.

I’ve heard about the debate. I refuse to read much more about it because I believe these things – while dramatic at the moment – don’t mean a whole lot in the end, even though every pundit overreacts. All will be well. I will say that there should be immediate fact checking in any debate – for both candidates. When you have a pathological liar/felon/etc./etc. running for office the debate host should be providing that information in real time, not after it’s over.

Anyway.

I didn’t see the dove flying back and forth on Wednesday. And I didn’t see a nest. So my guess is that a fledgling was on a branch and was hesitant to fly any further, so the dove mama or papa was feeding it until it finally took off. No nest or babies were on the ground. I walked it very carefully before we mowed, just to make sure.

We used the new mower, but it was very hot by the time we got it set up, so it felt exhausting even though it is much easier to push. And we have to adjust the handle as it was too high for me and that made my shoulders sore.

It’s been a strange week, somewhat disconcerting week.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

I was saddened to see editorials asking for Biden to step down from the nomination. Where are the editorials that say Trump shouldn’t be running then either? Of course, the debate has not changed my vote and I have read that Biden made some strong points once he got going. Still I was hoping he would shine so it would be obvious to others.
Have a peaceful, calm weekend, Claudia.

People overreact – especially pundits. We stay loyal, we stick with him.

      Thanks, Ellen.

sounds like what you said … a “somewhat disconcerting” week. sorry. may all the crummy stuff be done and you have peace that, among other good things, a very nice weekend and those pretty balloon-flowers are ahead.

same for the doves and everyone else.

    xo,

Claudia, I loved your photo, especially the different patterns of the greenery. I did watch the debate and I agree there should be immediate fact-checking. This debate was one facet to the whole election process… hopefully we’ll all be on to better things in a couple days…just let it blow over.

Exactly. The news cycle changes every 2 – 3 days.

I totally agree with you, regarding the debate. And, there is simply too much negativity regarding President Biden. Everyone needs to take a step back, and relax. For my own mental stability, I am ignoring the naysayers, and focusing only on the positive, and all that he has already done for this country.

Sorry to hear you’ve had a disconcerting week. Hope your weekend goes smoother for you.

Love your balloon flowers…they look so fragile. Enjoy your day! ;)

I hate those “up in the middle of the night” nights.

My take on the debate — stuff happens. Move on. And be prepared with a back-up plan if it gets too bad. Yes, on fact check. I could envision with two moderators, one asks main question for the first hour and the other corrects/fact checks with the follow-up if needed. Then switch roles in the second part. And I’m sure there could be people in their ear with the specifics.

Good luck for a good weekend and better week!

Yes, that would be the perfect way to fact check, Jeanie!

I did not watch the debate and haven’t heard a thing about it today. I’m one happy girl! Ha.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
