Weather report: Hazy, hot, and humid around here. We installed the A/C units on Wednesday, which ended up being just in the nick of time! Today promises to bring some thunderstorms and then it will rain for a few days – which is why we ended up mowing the front lawn yesterday in the morning heat and humidity. We have to stay ahead of the weather around here.

Poor Don. He books the talent for an outdoor summer concert series north of us. It takes place on the first Friday in June, July, August, and September. Every time, there is rain or a storm in the forecast. He, of course, worries about whether it will impact the concert and the musicians he has booked. Will they move it to a covered venue? Will they notify the public in time? That part of it is always dicey because the powers that be aren’t always on top of it. So we had a talk yesterday about letting the worry go because there’s nothing he can do about it.

He’ll be there to introduce the musicians.

Some of the Dame’s Rocket/wild phlox that grows all over the property at this time of year. And it smells heavenly.

As do the wild roses.

I’m laying low today.

Oh, we watched Cinema Paradiso  last night on TCM. It’s one of our favorite movies and, true to form, we were both crying at the end of the movie. As Don said, it’s really in a class by itself. A beautiful homage to the cinema. I cannot tell you how much I love it. Words aren’t adequate.

Yesterday, I paid for another year of hosting for this blog. I won’t guarantee anything beyond that, but I saved my pennies and we’re good to go until June 2026.

Yes, I know I showed you this on Wednesday, but there is an update: the little dog has been named Twinkle. The girls and animals approve. Hi, Twinkle!

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Nina makes me think of Hermione from Harry Potter with her tiny face and all that hair. Twinkle is a good name. Sounds happy.

Rain is expected here too for the weekend.

Hope you have a lovely day

hope the weather cooperates for don’s gig tonight and whatever else you and don want or need to do this weekend. glad you two installed the air conditioners!

i would love (and we need) days of rain here. unfortunately that’s not in our forecast for the week ahead. will make the best of it and be grateful for air conditioning and ceiling fans.

this morning my sister and i had a nice walk before it got humid, then i brought over a near car-full of things to sort, place around here or give somewhere. my goal is to have the movers move only furniture and i’ve brought or will bring the photos, papers, art, books, clothes, and literally everything else.
today’s sort is music cds; if i have maybe 200 cds, my goal is to keep my 20 most favorite. i just don’t listen to music very often anymore (grief, depression) so hope someone else can enjoy them.

that’s great news for us about you paying for and writing another year of mhc. thank you, claudia! :)

and, officially, welcome to twinkle. you’ve got a cute name to go with your cute face and sweet home. :)

    happy, safe friday to everyone.

Here it hardly ever rains. If it does though, it’s during a concert. Or even stampede week here, end of July. Weird. Dad is done with hoping to see northern lights with me. We missed them by 2 hours. We drive out on a country road.

My dad is rather tired of his life. Mom must have been in charge much of the time. Yup. I’m a bit tired of mine. I did a couple small pics. I’d like to do a pastel, first attempt at a portrait.

You should make a list of some of your movies. Id be super interested in that.

I probably won’t do that simply because I’ve talked about them already on the blog.

      Thanks, Irene.

Beautiful pictures. I’m sure if we named a pet Twinkle its nickname would be Star. None of our pets go by their original name. We recently took one of our cats to the vet. We always call her Mama Kitty. Had to remember to tell the vet her records are under Black Beauty. Happy to hear another year of your blog for sure. Wishes for clear weather for Don.

Claudia, thank you for investing in another year of the blog. Although I don’t write often, I read every post, and enjoy tuning in to your doings. By the way, I am jumping back into Washington Irving this summer. It is time travel for sure. He is quite entertaining. Peace be with you. Leslie

I can never decide if I love wild roses or if I despise them! Their thorns are so awful but they smell and look so beautiful!
Nina is adorable and I’m glad she a new pet.
    Here’s to the nice weekend!

It’s a love/hate thing. That’s why I say they are brambles for most of the year and wild roses in early June!

      Stay safe, Betsy.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
