Friday at MHC

November 12, 2010 at 9:31 am by Claudia

I woke up this morning, sleepily came down the stairs and discovered some ‘elimination problems’ from a certain male dog. Yikes. Nothing like cleaning up before one’s first cup of coffee. Poor Riley. No more water late in the evening, my friend. Our boy is very sensitive, so when something of this nature happens, he feels very badly. We are learning to be loving in these situations because he is doing the best he can. Any angry, loud reaction only bewilders him and accomplishes nothing. So in the midst of all the cleaning, I was petting him and saying “It’s okay.” Because it is.

He is a special boy, our Riley. He came to us for a reason and I truly believe that.

What else is new? I’m still nursing my lower back. I’m crocheting like a madwoman. I’ve got a book review coming up next week. I’m writing a recommendation for a former Boston University student who wants to go to graduate school in Speech Pathology. (That’s what I should have done – it pays better than what I do. And it’s steady work.) I helped Heidi at the store the other day. Her Holiday Open House is this weekend. I moved Maryjane’s banner to a new place in the studio:

I like it.

You know I have a photography blog, right? The link is right over there on my sidebar. My goal is to post one photo each day. So far, I haven’t missed a day, although a few times I forgot to post until late in the day. I like this idea of a daily snapshot of my life. Some photos are better than others, but here is one of my favorites:

A milkweed pod in my back yard. There is a challenge in this daily posting. I’m learning to see beauty in the everyday, to look beyond the obvious, to try to become a better photographer.

Oh, and my birthday is in just over a week.

Have a lovely Friday. I’ll be cleaning.

I didn’t know you had the photography blog either. Just checked it out ~ your photos are great. And I appreciate what you said about how you see your world through the lens. We really are surrounded by beauty and wonder no matter where we live. Have a good weekend and keep lovin’ those puppies.

Give Riley a tummy rub from me. Poor guy. Kodak was like that too, a very sensitive boy.

    Sophie is entirely different . . . .

Oh, Poor Riley! I know that hang down look of embarassment they get when they’ve done something they shouldn’t have. My little pup (who is over the Rainbow Bridge now) used to get that look on her face, and if you said anything, she would be so embarassed that she would go burrow in her blankies in her crate. She hated to be scolded. So I’m glad you are understanding of his needs.

I love your photography. That’s one of the things that attracted me to your blog, Claudia.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, and I hope your back gets better soon…

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

    Hi Claudia,
Your home looks so cozy in the morning. Happy Friday! I couldn’t agree more about kindness with challenges of pets (and people in most cases). Accidents happen, our pets don’t do it on purpose for sure. Had the same thing happen with Zeke night before last. I know if he could just unlock the back door, etc. it wouldn’t be a problem and of course, walk up the stairs and wake us up!

Love the banner. I haven’t been around so I don’t know what happened with your back. I’m off to investigate but hope it’s getting much better.

Shayne’s been on vacation so I’ve neglected almost everything. Off to get caught up.

Oh, it’s okay Riley. You’re loved and that’s the best.

Riley is lucky to have you. A little cleanup now and then is worth such a sweet dog ♥ I love your photography blog- I look forward to each day’s picture even if I don’t comment on all of them :) I can’t wait to see blanket progress!

Poor Riley. He must feel heart broken when he can’t hold it. I feel like he is proud and this is hard on him. The banner looks great and I just want to cuddle up on your sofa and knit.
    Love you,

Riley, sweet boy, we are all going to be there one day. May we all have someone who loves us and treats us with such patience as your momma, Claudia, does. I will have to take a look at your photography blog – I have somehow missed it, but I really am drawn to the fact that this helps you appreciate and find beauty in each day. And you know November babies grow up to be the nicest people. Ann

Poor Riley. That is most mornings for me. I’ve just come to accept it. Love them anyway! Maryjane makes the best banners, doesn’t she? Sorry about the back. The cold weather doesn’t help any either. The girls are coming in next Friday.

Nice post Claudia…boy can I relate to what you wrote about Riley. We have both gotten angry and yelled in the past and Obie would tuck tail and run and hide under the bed. It was so sad that we had to come up with a life plan for him and us and it’s working. As a matter of fact I think I will post about it. I had no idea you had a photography blog! I just got done checking it out and I love it!! If you go to my sidebar you will see a blog I follow called Downeastdoingstuff….click on her and you will find her husband’s blog called Port City Daily Photo. He does a photo a day too….very cool.

Oh Sweet Claudia…how I have missed you and your lovely blog!

I feel exactly like you do about the occasional accident our fur babies have and not getting upset about it. My Toby lets me know he’s done something before I discover it…he comes to me and hides his eyes with his paws…how could I possibly get upset with him?

Love the banner and your photo is gorgeous! I’ll have to check out your photo blog.

Sending you healing wishes for your back…I know how difficult that can be!

Next time you’re anywhere near here, let’s get together and visit Gilding the Lily…it truly is a spectacular sight to behold.

Thank you for the visit and sweet words, I truly adore you and your kind and sweet soul!

    xoxo

You have the right attitude about your doggie. When our cat was sick at the end of his life, he had such an upset tummy that we just learned to clean it up and love our kitty cat.

    Love you photos.
Hope your back feels better real soon.

    Have a restful weekend. Dogwood

Claudia, playing catch up! Love the banner on the stairway and the milkweed pod. I definitely need a GOOD camera!
Poor baby Riley. It is trying on them and trying on us as they get older. Patience is definitely a virtue, yes?
LOVE your auction painting, and yes, it matches the shelf beautifully! And how comfy does Scout look? haha Your cones are beautiful. I wish I could capture some of your creativity. I feel blocked lately.
Your shoe bag is fantastic. I have one hanging in my office, too. The cabinet you got is just perfect for your office space.
And last, but not least, loved hearing and seeing the clip of Don singing in the movie! What an exciting business to be involved in! Oh.. and love the curvy vase! haha… Donna

Rowdy had an accident Friday night too. He had a case of the loose poo poos in his crate… even the walls, all his blankies. I had to get up and take all his bedding into the garage, scrub his crate and give him fresh blankies to sleep on. Not sure why he got sick. Think the doggie biscuit he ate may have been too rich for him He appreciated me getting up at 12:30 in the morning to help him out of the situation.. LOL. Dogs, gotta love em.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
