Friday Thoughts

March 29, 2019 at 10:03 am by Claudia

Can you tell I’m enamored of this combination of yellow Fiesta and yellow/orange tulips?

They were made for each other.

I pulled out my big girl camera yesterday and started shooting closeups of the flowers that are scattered around the house. A sure sign that it’s spring. I’ve been using my iPhone almost exclusively during the winter months because it was easier to grab on the fly. But now that things are blooming and/or starting to grow outside, the big girl camera will be used much more often.

It’s rainy today. Not a lot of rain, more like a very light rain. I’ve been watching all the birds gather in our back yard. Robins, at least three blue jays, little sparrows…everyone taking advantage of damp earth and more readily available food.

I saw Henry yesterday! He made it through another winter. I can always tell it’s Henry because he’s large and overweight and moves more slowly than the other groundhogs. And he was eating on the grass where he always dines. I snapped some pictures but I was using the iPhone and he was far away, so they’re too grainy. But it was our old friend Henry. I’m glad.

That Sleepy egg cup? I’m not sure where the seller is getting his information, but the price seems to be based on the prices some of the egg cups went for pre-eBay. We’re talking at least 20 years ago. In those days, they were very hard to find, so they were more desirable, and priced accordingly. I have a friend who has a vast egg cup collection and he has the entire set of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He bought them long ago and paid a lot of money for them. He has no regrets – it’s always about the thrill of the hunt. But he never paid that much. Almost four hundred dollars? Not hardly. I’m going to send him a screenshot of the auction to get his reaction.

I’m not sure what’s on the docket for today. We did take our first trail walk yesterday and it felt really good. We stopped by the paddock where Ashley and Pliers used to live and said a few words in their memory.

Happy Friday.

I have read that ebay is sometimes used for money laundering. That is the explanation for items priced much higher than their actual value. Or, it may just be someone who hopes to get an exceptional priced for his item.

Money laundering seems to go on everywhere. If someone pays that price, perhaps! But I think it’s the latter option. Thanks, Linda!

The colors of the tulips and the Fiesta is so pretty. Makes me want to get some flowers and ‘decorate’ a little bit for Spring.

Those tulips are pretty all by themselves. But with the Fiesta—and the Vernor’s crate—just stunning! Beautiful shots!

That yellow bowl has boosted my spirits today too! So looking forward to seeing Nature’s bright colors again – yellows, pinks & periwinkle blues of hydrangea, that special green we only see in the Spring. So happy as it slowly overtakes all the gray and brown. Something tells me Ashley & Pliers might still be hanging around their paddock. At least for a little while. And if they are, I’m sure they heard your words of love. Have a great weekend. Peace. 🌷

Claudia, I can predict that the yellow. Compote bowl will make regular appearances in photos on this blog! And we’re all happy to see it.

There was some weird rain yesterday. It was raining at the front of my house, but not the back, then I saw was the rain at the back, but not the front, and soon no rain on my property, but rain across the street that runs along the back of my house. I looked up and the wind was gently nudging a very dark very rain-filled cloud from west to east. This has happened a few times before. Wow, that’s really micro-climate! But now it’s sunny and I see my albutilon is full of red-pink flowers, and the honeysuckle is full of purple-pink buds ready to open and scent the air. I know my daughter will be thinking of vegetable garden soon, and this year, I’ve asked for two Japanese eggplant plants. I love Japanese eggplant smeared with miso/honey/soy sauce glaze and broiled. Ummmm!

Wow! I’ve seen that happen before, and it’s always so strange!

      Micro-climate, indeed!

Thank you for the lovely flowers yesterday and today,I needed something like that to divert me from the madness of Brexit which seems to be overwhelming our whole country and to remind me of the real importance of real things. I have an exact same yellow/red bunch of tulips, fading now, but no lovely bowl sadly.

Loving the kitchen photo, all the colors and Stella. Glad to hear tidings of Henry’s appearance and activities, too.

Had very odd similar rain events yesterday as Wendy! Hard as h—- , then nothing, as if it never happened. Day & night, several places.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
