From Paris and London

November 19, 2019 at 9:28 am by Claudia

We received a faint coating of slushy snow last night.

It will be gone by late morning.

The cleaning frenzy continues. Yesterday it was the bathroom and half of the interior of the refrigerator. When I’m on a roll, I’m on a roll. Today, I’ll finish the refrigerator. I also have to finish reading a play that I’m doing a couple of days work on and write tomorrow’s post, which will be a book review.

Yesterday’s mail included two packages – one from Paris, and one from London. I must say, I was tickled by that!

I left my red beret behind in the lobby of the hotel in Paris. I bought the beret here, not in Paris, and it’s my favorite hat. That cheery red makes me smile. I realized when we were at the airport that I’d left it behind when checking out. I called the hotel and yes, it was there. Hoping they would consent to send it to me, I offered to pay for postage and provided my address.

They sent it gratis, those dears.

Note the description: beret oublié à Paris. Beret forgotten in Paris.

Don thinks that would be a good book title.

So happy to have it back again!

And from London:

The Winter edition of the Foxed Quarterly, Slightly Foxed. I have yet to read the Fall edition, so I’d better get going!

And last week I received another envelope from London, containing John Sandoe’s Christmas Book Catalog. It makes for excellent reading!

If only I could magically transport myself to London and hop on over to Chelsea for a long afternoon in John Sandoe Books.

Ah, well. This is the next best thing.

Don’s in the city this morning. I’m going into the city on Friday for a couple of hours of coaching. The rehearsal space is just down the street from the Port Authority bus station, so I will be in and out of the city rather easily.

Happy Tuesday.

happy you have the beret back (nice of the hotel to send it for free) and more treats from london and john sandoe books.

i agree … “beret oublie a paris” (i can’t insert the accent marks) makes a great title for a book!

glad you and don have some city work to do and the trip sounds easy. hope the weather cooperates. it is to be 45 and sunny here on saturday … good anytime, especially good for late november and extra-especially good because my sister and i must drive to and from st. louis in one day if we want to see a likely-once-in-a-lifetime art exhibit. that’s about fifteen hours of driving for five hours at the exhibit … and worth it as it’s of one of my sister’s favorite artists.

it sure looks pretty in that first photo!

hope you don’t spend all day ousting and cleaning things and you can enjoy those treats from london!

Glad to hear you had a happy reunion with your beret. That was very nice of the proprietors. I’d certainly read Beret Oublié à Paris!

I’m having a bit of a cleaning frenzy myself. Just part of holiday mode. I usually do a deep clean of the living, dining, and kitchen areas at the very least, before Thanksgiving. We are having quite a few visitors over the holidays this year…so I best be on my game.

If you can’t visit London or Paris…packages are always the next best thing. Happy reading! ;)

Even though the holidays are low-key here, I’m in cleaning mode. I finished cleaning out the refrigerator today and then I deep-cleaned the stainless steel kitchen sink. (Having very hard water means we have to clean harder and more often.) Thanks, Donna!

Now THAT is the best mail ever! A returned beret and all things wonderful related to books. Your mail these days is much better than mine!

Glad you have the coaching job. And oh, what a lovely photo of that red shed. I’m getting out my mail orders for art and felties and cards and then I have to engage in that same cleaning frenzy. Yikes! Good luck with the clean-up!

Got a lot done today. Then Rick stopped by and the three of us chatted. Now, I’m going to write that book review! Thanks, Jeanie.

Claudia, i love receiving nice packages in the mail, too! After a nice outing in San Francisco yesterday, I have a house full of chores that I’ll tackle before going out for a walk, which will be my reward.

How nice of the hotel to send you the beret without charging postage. Glad you only had a light coating of slush.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
