I’m a little behind in responding to comments but I’ll do that as soon as I finish today’s post. I mowed a heck of a lot yesterday, had a long talk with Don, took off in the car to figure out where that house that my friends are interested in was exactly, grabbed a quick dinner and then went to a meeting re the “glamping” resort. (It’s not going so well, but we’ll keep fighting.) By the time I got home, I was pooped. And then I watched Lawrence O’Donnell and became even more enraged about the ACHA. And then it took me a while to get to sleep. Understandably.
Anyway:
I love the graceful petals of the coneflower.
The crown vetch is blooming.
More daylilies – they’re quite prolific this year.
And I was fascinated by this teeny, tiny guy.
There’s so much life in the garden.
I saw Chippie this morning and I had a brief glimpse of Henry the other day.
Tomorrow just might be the birthday of two of my favorite guys. More on Saturday’s post.
Happy Friday.

The garden is lovely. I need to take some time and try to paint some of the flowers I’ve saved from your blog posts! I see sunshine and I’m so happy. I know we have more rain coming but even a bit of sunshine is appreciated. One year ago I was having my gallbladder surgery. I can honestly say I feel so much better one year later. It’s been a long year of not feeling well, but I think I’ve turned a corner! Oh some happy birthday fun this weekend sounds good.
As for the health care plans? I just can’t! God help this country.
Claudia says
So happy to hear you’ve turned a corner, my friend! It’s time for a change!

Glad you have the serenity of your garden. How was the house in which your friends were interested?
Claudia says
I could only see it from the outside because I won’t get a tour until Sunday, but it’s really lovely and it’s on a quiet road (I’m envious.) I’ll know more at the beginning of the week.

I was just telling my sister today that Lawrence has been a saving grace,; love that man and his calling a spade a spade. You, Joy and Rachel are my sane saviours as well.
Your garden looks lush and beautiful. It has rained so much in Southern Ontario,
seems like you can count the sunny days on one hand this month.
Have a wonderful and peaceful weekend Claudia. ๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฆ

I love him, too. When his contract was up for renewal and MSNBC wasn’t doing anything about it, there were a lot of petitions and messages to MSNBC saying they would stop watching the network if he was let go. The very thing we love about it – calling Trump out for what he is – was apparently not sitting well with the network or the owners of the network. But it was renewed and now we can all breathe a sigh of relief!

My coneflowers and bee balm are getting ready to open, too. I love both of them. Love how they multiply all on their own each year as well.
It is only supposed to be 68* here tomorrow and Sunday. This has been the craziest weather!! We go from the 90’s down to the 60’s and back up and down again. I don’t remember a summer like this with such big swings.
We are celebrating our 45th anniversary tonight (though tomorrow is the actual date) with the kids and some of our dear friends tonight. How does time fly like that?? Hope you have a nice Friday, Claudia!!
Chris K in Wisconsin says
Oh, and thank goodness for Lawrence and Rachel. I understand things so much better after viewing their shows….. I still hate it, but I understand it. ugh.
Claudia says
I feel better after watching them, too. It’s like they’re taking care of us.
Claudia says
They’re such perfect cottage garden-type flowers, Chris.
Happy Anniversary a day early!!! That’s quite an accomplishment! A big hug to you and your husband. xo

Garden is looking great! I also, have had bunches of lilies in the back yard. All colors.
Have a great weekend.

Claudia says
The roadside lilies have just started to bloom, too, Judy. I’ll have to take a picture of them. Much love to you.

It’s nice that your garden is so full of color. Glad the heat hasn’t zapped too much of it so far.
I am currently fascinated by our hollyhock. Just stuck in a pot after my husband pulled up part of it from our other house before we moved here. Didn’t do anything for four years…until this year. Has been such a nice surprise. I’m sure the one from the other house (built 1923) was ancient-ancient as a lot that volunteered every year in that yard was stuff you rarely see anymore in, say, a conventional nursery/retail garden center. Anyway, it has given us these gorgeous paper-like flowers for weeks and weeks, and now it’s sprouted into a whole ‘nuther hearty stalk, so we’re going to get even more flowers for MORE weeks and weeks as long as the heat doesn’t fry them.
Claudia says
Out here, hollyhocks are biennials – they bloom for two years and then that’s it. I bought another one this year because I missed my ‘volunteer’ hollyhock so much!

happy birthdays to two special guys..Don and Little Z

Thank you, Sue!

Pretty flowers! My coneflower is just now getting buds, so your area is ahead of mine. We have so many chipmunks running around here – my cats love to watch them out the windows. And now we have “Henry” living under our front porch. We’re not too happy about that, but what can we do? I’ve seen Henry run into my next-door neighbor’s garage. She’s the evil neighbor whose house and garage are literally falling apart.
Claudia says
Enjoy your Henry. They are sweet and very, very shy.
Marilyn says
Your flowers are a delight to see. So beautiful. Have a great week end and no more mowing for now. Relax and enjoy your garden.

Claudia says
Have to do a wee bit more mowing of the back forty but I might wait until later in the week. I need to get everything mowed right before I leave on the 3rd.
Nancy Blue Moon says
Love those white coneflowers! Also the bee balm which is one of my favorites…Have fun on birthday day tomorrow..even though you have to celebrate them long distance!
Claudia says
Yes, and he has two shows tomorrow. A busy day with not much time to celebrate.
