A photo I took the other day just to show you how huge the limelight hydrangea is! Soon it will be taller than the porch roof. (That’s where the catbirds had their nest.)
It does make a statement, doesn’t it?
That’s the front lawn after I went crazy and mowed it all – Don helped a little, but it was mostly me. I also mowed the secret garden because it was as dry as I’ve ever seen it – usually it’s so wet that any attempt to mow it is a messy and yucky experience. That dryness tells you how little rain we’ve had this second half of summer. We had a brief thunderstorm the other day, but really, no impact whatsoever. The rivers are quite low. This is exactly what happened last summer.
I’m working on the dialect/script and finishing off our deductions. I’d like to have the weekend free of anything other than being with Don and making a list of what to pack. I’ll be driving down to the theater in New Jersey on Tuesday. Wednesday is the first rehearsal. I’ll most likely be there through Sunday’s rehearsal and then I’ll drive home that night or Monday morning, depending on how late I’m at rehearsal.

Don will get instructions as to his ‘watering schedule.’ I will walk him through everything. And you can bet I’ll be checking in to make sure he’s doing it!
In the back and forth with the theater about lodging, etc., I noticed a sentence saying that some accommodations would have to be double occupancy. I immediately let them know that was not going to happen for me. And I used the age card with “I’m 72!” I clarified that I was not feeble or anything like that, but after doing this all over the country for 40+ years, I felt I had earned my own space, not shared with anyone. They were great about it. I’ll be an in apartment next week, and then, when I am there for two days at a time, I’ll be in a hotel. That’s fine.
That would have been a deal breaker. Very thankful it didn’t come to that.
Okay. Time to make the second cup of coffee and return to the script.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

Your home and flowers look beautiful!! It looks so inviting and cozy.
The hydrangea I think had some powerful ‘food’ and the purple flowers
in the hanging planters are lovely.

Yes, that’s a huge hydrangea, beautiful…. definitely makes a statement. Sounds like you’ll be busy with the theater. I don’t blame you about using the “age card”…nice to be able to unwind by yourself after a busy day… without strangers. Enjoy your day.
Thanks, Barrie.

my opinion? pointing out your decades of experience in the industry is not playing the “age card”. it’s standing up for yourself.
i know budgets can be tight, but all your experience will add good things to this play … ease to those in it, enjoyment to those attending it and value/money to those who will financially benefit from it … and that’s worth a private accommodation at the very least. whatever, your speaking up helped and you don’t have to share housing. i am glad for you about that and am proud of you. :)
hope the preparations are done by now so you can enjoy a nice, easy weekend.
trying to do the same here (movers come in three weeks).
stay safe in every way, including cool. hope you get some rain (just not on travel and show days).

Thanks so much, Kathy.

Safe travels to New Jersey, Claudia, and have lots of fun amidst the hard work at the theater. I can only room with either daughter, otherwise it’s a single for me, too!
Thanks so much, Wendy.

Oh my! Good thing you caught the double occupancy issue. I can just imagine having to share with someone, probably much younger, noisy, messy, etc. I would need peace and quiet after a busy work day.
Your house is lovely…I love a good porch!
My hydrangea looked like it all but died this year. Just new growth at the bottom, everything else looked dead so hubby cut it way back. I’m not sure it was the right thing to do but we have a little hydrangea now.
Have a restful weekend and good luck on your work next week.
And I’m an introvert, so I really need peace and quiet!
Stay safe, Marilyn.
The catbird hotel hydrangea is indeed lovely. They used up all the multiple occupancy your family should be required to put up with!

Your house looks so pretty. Hope your return to theatre goes well next week and you enjoy the experience. Travel safe. Hope the weather cools down for you. Hugs, Elaine
It will start to cool down on Monday.
Stay safe, Elaine.
Beautiful picture. I don’t blame you for not wanting to share accommodations with a stranger. Might be fun if you were young, but not people of our age set in their ways.
Exactly.
Stay safe, Olivia.
You have such a sweet looking house!
Thank you, Terri.

Hope all goes smoothly with travel and the job.
