Gifts, Shop Update & a Rose

May 31, 2012 at 8:03 am by Claudia

The heat and humidity have broken and it’s a glorious, sunny morning here at MHC. The grass has had the temerity to grow and I see a few days of mowing in the near future. (Sssh – don’t tell anyone, but I sort of like mowing.)

I have to share something with you that I received from my friend, Judy Clark. Judy has a wonderful Etsy shop that is wildly popular, 20 North Ora. Her pillows, banners and other creations are simply beautiful. Judy and were talking a while back and she mentioned that she’d like an Obsession Scarf. I knew that she had made a Nisse doll for Brenda, so I boldly asked if we could do a swap. (I wrote all about my obsession for these sweet dolls here.)

She agreed. I sent her the scarf and here’s what arrived on my doorstep the other day:

I think I got the better end of the deal. Oh. my. goodness. Isn’t she sweet? I am thrilled. I love the fabrics Judy chose, don’t you? Judy also sent along those cute pinwheels and a banner/bunting/garland (I’m never sure what to call these) that I found the perfect place for:

The dollhouse looks rather festive now, don’t you think? Just in time for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Thank you, Judy. Your work is exquisite and I will treasure your creations. Make sure you stop by Judy’s shop and see what she’s been creating.

I suppose it will be my Diamond Jubilee later this year, too. Yikes. Perhaps someone will design a bunting/garland in honor of that occasion? (I’m going to try to ignore it.)

Speaking of Etsy, I have a little update for you. I’ve listed my Crochet Flower Garland.

Initially, I’m listing the garland in the same colors I used in my own garland. I’m making them as they are ordered, so allow a few days before shipping. Each garland will have 12 flowers – 6 in aqua and 6 in the pale aqua. I’ll also include a length of ribbon.

I use Peaches & Creme yarn for these because it has a slightly stiffer quality that works well for the flowers. I ordered it in other colors, as well, so if you’re interested in the garland in another color combination, email me or convo me on Etsy and we’ll talk.

And it wouldn’t be my blog in the spring without a flower photo:

This is the New Dawn Rose that I planted last year. I’m training it to climb up the porch railing. I think this is my favorite rose (don’t tell the others) because that soft, blush pink is so beautiful.

I have to store up all the gloriousness (is that a word?) of the garden in my heart and mind. Its time is so fleeting. I’m so glad I’m home this spring to enjoy every moment of it.

Happy Thursday.

    Hi Claudia:
I love the British bunting and your new doll. Thanks for the link to your friend’s shop…I’ll be sure to go explore.

Your little flower buntings are so sweet! I’m sure they’ll be a hit.

    Happy early Summer!

That’s what cameras are for, sweets. Storing up all the gloriousness in the spring/summer for the dreariness of winter. Just look at your photos for uplifting during those months. That’s what I do.

BTW, our roses are just beautiful again. Hubs does a great job growing them for me!

    xoxo,
    Connie

Claudia, your doll and dollhouse are fantastic! Very cheerful!

Parallel lives once again. I can’t believe your New Dawn is blooming so beautifully after just having been planted last year! Mine has been in for at least 2-3 years now and I just took a picture of the one and only rose in bloom (although I have to admit there are many buds, which is so exciting!) I will probably be posting mine in my next blog post. I do hope you don’t think I’m a copycat – first with the birdbaths and now with the New Dawn! haha Glad to hear your humidity is gone. Enjoy the week and weekend!… Donna

Maybe I’m missing it, but I’m not seeing a link to your Etsy shop here (and I love to stop by to see what you and Meredith have in store!)

I’m so glad you get to be home for this gardening season Claudia! I loved your previous post of peonies and roses. Your New Dawn is so pretty. I won’t tell the others, because I know how hurt their feelings would be if they knew we had favorites : )
This sweet doll from Judy is such a cute one. I love the bunting and pinwheels she included, because that bunting was made for your little house. It looks like happy little people must live there!
Hey…I think you should try to hybridize a teeny little climbing rose for it too!

    sending hugs from here…

My parents have a Chrysler Imperial rose that smells absolutely wonderful. It is my favotite – partly because it is red, but mostly because it smells so heavenly. Love your scarves and Judy’s doll.

My New Dawn is blooming right now too! I have two of them out front but one of them is not doing as well as it has in the past seasons. It has blooms on it but it’s growth looks stunted to me. Don’t know why since we had such a mild winter. It seems like I just turned 50 myself but I will be 59 next month….can’t believe how fast time has gone. I am thankful for all my birthdays now so I am able to spend one more year with my family :) ~Hugs, Patti

That was a fabulous swap! The doll is lovely and the bunting so sweet. I love your garland of flowers, too. I started making them when you posted the pattern, but don’t even know where I put them all now. I have stuff all over the place. Must get organized. Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy

That is so adorable! Great swap.

My New Dawn is actually a very old rose….still clambering on the back fence but needs more sun now the landscape is so tree covered, sadly not a lot of blooms this year. They are so delicate and lovely though.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
