It is such a gloriously beautiful day out there that I’m going to make this post short and sweet. We just came in from sitting on the porch with our second cup of coffee and, after the constant gray skies and rain, this weather is like manna from heaven. I know that many of you understand because you’ve been dealing with the same thing. Rain almost every day since April. Three months of it. And, of course, we’re getting more later this week. But in the meantime, I’m feeling a slight breeze, the sun is shining, there’s no humidity, the birds are singing, two little rabbits were eating outside the kitchen this morning, the wind chimes I inherited from my mom and dad are tinkling softly, the gardens are lush and beautiful (and need weeding, but we won’t go there) and I plan to mow, which I love.
All good on this Saturday. And all desperately needed. I do feel that it restores my soul.
I looked down at the doves – they’re right next to my seat on the porch – and it looked like they were munching on the geraniums. Had to take a picture.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
Happy Saturday.
Shanna says
Your doves are adorable—just perfect with the pink geraniums! Are they concrete? Love the patina of age, too.
Claudia says
I think they’re concrete. Solid and made to last outdoors in all kinds of weather. They’re quite old.

Have a wonderful weekend, Claudia. Yes, we grab those sunny days while we can!
Claudia says
We must, Jeanie!
Chris K in Wisconsin says
Grabbing a sunny day here, too!! Then a couple of days of rain ahead. We restore with each day of beautiful sunshine. Have a musical performance to attend this afternoon. Hate when that happens in the middle of a rare pretty day.
Our daughter was at a conf in Denver this week & is now spending a couple of days w/ my best friend & her family there. We have been friends since we were in 2nd grade. It is cold & rainy in Denver, so they are heading into the mountains to Estes Park, my daughter’s fav place. They will see snow. Craziness everywhere.
Have fun mowing! Maybe Don will get some photo-taking in today?
Claudia says
Snow! But I bet it’s beautiful! Yes, Don got some photos in and will take more today! He has to take advantage of the rare good weather!

Claudia, Sunny day here, too, warm but not hot. I like your doves. I have three goslings in my yard, posed with the three-sectioned appetizer plate I use as a drinking vessel for the bees in my garden. One of the goslings look like it’s dipped its head down to drink water. College daughter surprised me with a weekend visit. I didn’t think I’d see her until end of summer session. I’m a happy Mom!
Claudia says
How nice! You must be so happy to have her home!

summer has come crashing in on the prairie here!
we’ve had triple digits and high humidity. 87% yesterday. summer has come on with vengeance.
hot as Hades here. and the day before – hail the size of baseballs literally. the poor cattle and horses. it’s enough to kill them. it’s such a harsh land on this prairie.
but I rejoice for YOU there in your beautiful green forest. it makes me homesick!
my mother came from upstate NY and she LOVED IT there always.
it could ONLY have been True Love for her to fall head over heels and marry a Texan. LOL!
and now I’m trying so hard not to be envious. your descriptions in this post are priceless.
sending you love and total happiness there in your sunshine.
the proper kind. not the sunshine from Hell kind. LOL!
I also think your little doves are wonderful… eating the geraniums so contentedly. :D
Claudia says
I’m sorry your temps are so high, Tammy. We’re heading into the mid to high eighties this week, which certainly isn’t triple digits, but is a big change from the sixties. Hang in there!
tammy j says
just had more rain this morning! and it did cool the air. so I’m a water logged but happy camper. now hearing distant thunder. enjoy your Sunday dearest bean. xo
Claudia says
Glad you got some rain!
Janet in Rochester says
It sounds just about as perfect a day in June where you are – as it is here! We appreciate the sunny days so much more when we have a lot of rain, that’s for sure. Have a wonderful weekend you two – hope Don gets to take lots of portraits too! Peace. ☀️☀️☀️

We are having a perfect day here too. Windy…but the good kind…not threatening. Rain I believe tomorrow and Monday. I got some outside chores done earlier, now I’m relaxing on the deck in the shade…oh glorious breeze, cool me off! Hope you enjoyed today too! ;)
Claudia says
I did. And today is also beautiful! We’ll get some of the rain tomorrow night and Tuesday. Enjoy, Donnamae!

Isn’t it great, Claudia, when the fruits of your labour all come together and you can sit in the sunshine and just enjoy your garden. Are you still receiving Gardener’s World? Last night’s episode was especially good for me as it featured my favourite guy Will Young in his garden in Cornwall as he was interviewed by Joe Swift. I have seen him perform several times. He is so multi talented as a pop singer with a fabulous voice as well as acting in musical theatre where he’s been nominated for an Olivier award for his role as Emcee in Cabaret, I’ve also seen him play Nicky Lancaster in Noel Coward’s The Vortex.
Oh, look out for his sweet dogs, they steal the show!
Happy Saturday
Claudia says
Yes. I still get Gardener’s World. I have to catch up. I haven’t watched last week’s episode or the current episode. I’m looking forward to that segment, thanks for telling me about it!

Hurray for sunshine! Enjoy the loveliness of your garden!
Claudia says
Thank you, Roxie! I will.
Diana says
I love your little doves! They sure do look like they’re having a snack. We’ve been beset by flooding rains for weeks and weeks here in Kansas… and more on the way the next couple days. I need some of that sunshine so I can get out into the gardens again! Blessings to you! ♥
Claudia says
I’m so sorry to hear about the flooding rains, Diana. Hopefully, sunshine will be on its way in the near future. Thanks so much for commenting.
