Greta

January 12, 2026 at 9:46 am by Claudia

Yesterday, I impulsively decided to do the face up on my doll head from Little Keiko Dolls. She’s been sitting here for a couple of months. But that only happened after I checked with my friend Filipa as to whether it was too cold outside to use the sealant, Mr. Super Clear, which I had been thinking all along. It turns out it’s not about the temperature, it’s about the humidity. It needs to be less than 75%.  Ah! I had it all wrong.

So, I got out the box of customizing supplies and started in. I wanted her face up to be simple and delicate and I think I got that. By the way, the seemingly ever present wind kicked up while I was going in and out to spray more coats of Mr. Super Clear. Eventually, I had to open the doors to the shed and spray the last coat in there – with the doors open, as you need good ventilation.

The doll head is relatively the same size as the ones from Landoudou dolls. The mold is called ‘Bunny.’

It was late in the day when I could take a photo and I scrambled to find some light.

I chose green eyes and the style of wig – Little Keiko had several to choose from.

I got that dress from Qiulizio, a customizer in China, and the boots, which she made, as well. I hadn’t even opened the package, but the completion of this girl called for a whole new outfit.

She is attached to an Obitsu 22 body (the hardest part is always putting the head and body together.)

Same photo with some photo editing this morning:

It wasn’t until this morning that I realize the boots were on the wrong feet. Whoops.

Taken this morning. Honestly, she’s even prettier in person. I’ll keep trying for the perfect light in which to capture her lovely face.

I’m very pleased with the way she turned out. Nothing is ever perfect, but since she’s for me and not for sale, she passes the test.

She’s a delicate and ethereal girl.

I’m crazy about her and so is Don, who is my biggest cheerleader in these things.

I’ve named her Greta. It just came to me – and while I briefly considered Violet, it never really stuck.

Welcome, Greta!

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

I like this girl. She is beautiful but also she has a very kind, thoughtful even magical look to her.
    I like her dress, too.
I started a new book this weekend, I like it. ” 6:40 to Montreal” by Eva Jurczytl.

    Take Care,

Greta is beautiful. She reminds me of my Scout a little bit. wild hair, big eyes, and the outfit is one Scout would design for herself. Such fun. Great job Claudia!!

Hi Claudia. She’s just lovely! Yes, ethereal and delicate. What a sweetie!
Thanks for sharing the processes. I am not planning to make any myself, but the information is interesting and I like knowing what goes into it…. not just seeing a pretty picture! :)

She is just gorgeous. And the word “ethereal” could have been made for her.
Most of all, I want her dress. I wonder if it comes in an XS adult size…?

I wouldn’t be wearing that size, but I wish it was available in an adult size!

      Thanks so much, Denise.

You did a magnificent job, Claudia! I think you could make a career out of renovating doll faces (that’s probably the wrong word, but you get the idea.) Enchanting.

Greta is absolutely beautiful! I don’t know how you have the patience to work with such a tiny doll. I love that she has green eyes too! There are not a lot of green eyed real people never mind a doll! Yes, I have green eyes. lol

Greta’s face has such a tender, luminous calm-every detail feels intentional and full of quiet life. She is a beautifully realized little spirit. Good job. Honestly ….I did not notice the boots were on the wrong feet. Greta has bigger things on her mind.

Thanks Claudia….for this new, tiny, ethereal, creature.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
