First of all, I apologize for not responding to your comments on dreams. I promise I will, but we’ve been busy working outside, as well as mowing, and Don woke me up in the middle of the night making strange noises and I never got back to sleep. On top of all of that, there’s something else wrong with Don’s car and we don’t have the money to fix any of it at the moment.
Oh, I could go on with this list, because there’s much more, but this is enough ‘poor me’ for today.
So. I’m sleep deprived and slightly pissed off at Don, even though he didn’t know he was making the noises. He felt so bad about the whole thing that he made both rounds of coffee today.
More crabapple blossoms! I never get tired of them. How can I? – they’ll be gone before you know it. Every year, I notice another crabapple tree on the property.
We have some rain due this afternoon and tomorrow. Then – fingers crossed – some dry days. We need them. I can’t even walk in the secret garden because it’s so waterlogged.
I took this photo of Lucy yesterday.
She looks like she’s contemplating some mischief. And I suspect she doesn’t suffer fools gladly.
We watched the limited series, Ripley, on Netflix. It’s based on Patricia Highsmith’s The Talented Mr. Ripley. It stars Andrew Scott (we are great fans of this man’s work) and it is exquisitely shot in black and white. Stunning to watch, but even more stunning is Scott as Tom Ripley. I really, really loved it.
Okay, my friends.
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.

I love Lucy’s hair. I keep contemplating renewing netflix but with everything else (that I don’t make time to watch) it feels too much.
So sorry about the car. And the sleep. Often Rick and I start out together and one or the other of us moves into the other room by four or five in the morning. It might be coughing, bed hogging, angst, whatever! I’m so glad we have the extra bed!
Claudia says
Unfortunately, we don’t have an extra bed. We got rid of it when we made the second bedroom into our office. But I’ve ended up on the sofa a few times.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
Elaine in Toronto says
Lucy is looking adorable in her cute checkered overalls. And yes, she does look like she is planning mischief. Sorry Don’s car has more problems. Always something! But the crabapple blossoms are beautiful. It’s a grey, rainy day here. Hang in there. This, too, shall pass. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
Thank you, Elaine.
Stay safe.
Barrie says
Those crabapple blossoms are gorgeous, and very calming to look at. Lucy is showing off a darling outfit and I especially like her shoes. Hopefully more positive things will be coming your way! Better sleep tonight would be a good start! Take care, Claudia.
Claudia says
Thank you, Barrie.

I agree with you about Ripley. I’ve just watched the series and thought everything about it was stunning, even the cat played a great part!
I first came across Andrew Scott when he played Moriarty to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock in the BBC series a few years ago.
Hoping for better times coming soon for you both.
Claudia says
Same here. We loved his Moriarty.
The cat was one of my favorite things in the series.
Thanks, Dee Dee.
Stay safe.

I have been out of sorts lately from over tiredness too. My husband has been pulling the covers off of my side of the bed. This is a new annoying habit. Wakes me up every time and the dog, who sleeps on the floor by my side has started to snore! lol. Glad those are my only troubles.
I just saw your lilac buds! Very ahead of mine.
I have decided to blame everything on the combination of the earthquake, the eclipse and too much rain. I hope Mother Nature gets with the program! :)
Claudia says
Oh boy, that makes for unsettling sleep!
Stay safe, Betsy!
Donnamae says
It was a grumbly morning for me, too. My cat was talking incessantly to me from 5 am on…til I rolled out of bed. Sure wish I knew what he was chattering on about.
Your crabapple is gorgeous…a picture of loveliness. And, Lucy is looking rather mischievous in her outfit.
I am sorry to hear about Don’s car repairs. I do realize how frustrating that can be. I am hoping a solution will present itself. Have a good evening….and hope you sleep better tonight. ;)
Claudia says
I wonder what he was trying to say?
Thanks so much, Donnamae.
Stay safe.
Kay in SE Wisconsin says
My gosh, I have totally lost track of what day is what. I thought today was Wednesday. Anyway, I love your crab apple blossoms. Things are just beginning to open here, daffodils and now tulip heads are appearing so was out with your deer repellant recipe spraying like mad yesterday. A herd swoops through our neighborhood in broad daylight lots of days consuming whatever they find in their path.
This bathroom reno is going to be the death of me. Yesterday the drywallers were here and when I went up to wash up for bedtime in the adjacent guest bath we’re using I discovered they’d come through the wall and there was a huge hole near the sink up close to the ceiling and dry wall fragments all over Dean’s toiletries beneath and the floor. I heard nothing by 10 this morning from the big boss about anyone coming. So snuck off to the grocery for half an hour and come back to find 3 guys standing around the front porch waiting on me. They’re here to put “mud” on the dry wall. Who knew?
Gloomy, colder and more rain today so that isn’t improving my mood.
Take care,
Kay
Claudia says
It’s time for me to mix up some deer repellent again.
Oh no with the renovation! The contractors seem to be unpredictable.
Stay safe, Kay.
kathy in iowa says

Claudia says
Thanks, Kathy.

Hi Claudia
I am still reading but not often commenting- too sad after lasts years bereavements and finding life tough
I watched Ripley too – and thought it was just magnificent- beautifully shot and the acting was superb – I watched with an Italian friend and she was very impressed at the ability of the actors to really perform in Italian
It was exquisite, just exquisite
I hope there are sunny ( and less expensive days ) in the future for you
I may plan a trip to Italy
Siobhan x
Claudia says
A trip to Italy sounds like a wonderful idea, Siobhan.
Good to hear from you, my friend.
