First off, I cannot recommend the movie adaptation of Hamnet enough. If you remember, I wrote a love letter about the book. It is one of my favorite novels ever. Don also read it (he’s normally a nonfiction guy) and loved it. And you know I usually avoid film adaptations of my favorite novels because I want to protect the characters my imagination created while reading the book and because I’m invariably disappointed in the casting. I read enough raves about this movie adaptation that we decided to go for it. We watched it Saturday night. It is stunning, in every way. Maggie O’Farrell co-wrote the screenplay and it shows. It is simply beautiful. We felt as if we held our breath through the entire movie, it was that gorgeous and powerful. A wonderful cast, but Jessie Buckley, Jessie Buckley, Jessie Buckley! – on my god – she deeply inhabits the role of Agnes (Shakespeare’s wife). I don’t when I’ve seen anything as powerful and rich as her work in this film. Needless to say, we were thrilled when she won the Oscar. She absolutely deserved it.
Rain today, and a line of severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Maybe even a bit of snow. I’m not looking forward to it.

More cuties.
On the left is the egg cup that started my collection. It was a gift from my godparents when I was a child. Made for Fannie Farmer, it features two chicks. Somehow, I held onto it for decades and it followed me from apartment to apartment. When I saw it in an article on collecting egg cups in Martha Stewart Living, I realized that there was a whole world of charming figural egg cups out there. And once a collector, always a collector.
A bunny egg cup that I’ve always believed to be the bunny version of Scout – same mischievous look in the eyes, same pink ears.
A bunny standing outside a house. There are many egg cups with this window motif, all of them different from each other.
A pig holding up an egg cup.

A duck carrying an egg cup with an orange rim on her back. Lustreware finish.
A pig preparing to dine on an egg. It’s Staffordshire pottery made for Tiffany. I love this one.
A little girl in a bunny costume holding a polka dot egg cup. She has the sweetest face!
There will be more.
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.

thanks for the egg-cup tour. it’s always fun to see such sweet things. and i’m always happy for you to have found that perfect cupboard to hold most of them. :)
best wishes for dealing with that weather. we had maybe an inch of snow fall yesterday (beautiful), but with sustained high winds, we were in a blizzard warning and travel was horrible, scary (interstate closed north of us). it’s still around and 8 degrees this morning so we walked in a mall (bleh) and only walked outside long enough to feed earl and the birds. now inside and going to knit on a red hat for a mostly-retired pastor.
glad you enjoyed a movie from a favorite book. i feel the same way … don’t want the movie to mess with the images i have in my head about the characters and scenery.
and i can’t think of any movie i’ve seen that did right by the book, so i tend to skip movie adaptations. need to get other things done, but maybe i will start on a new book today. my attention span probably isn’t where it needs to be right now for much reading, but hopefully a good story or favorite topic (non-fiction) will help that.
hope you, don and everyone else have a nice day and stay safe.

I can give you 2: To Kill a Mockingbird is a perfect adaptation of the
book. And Hamnet.
Stay safe, Kathy.
These egg cups make me smile…even the hungry looking pig, sitting so patiently at his table.
We are in the middle of a blizzard here in Wisconsin. Complete whiteout…very pretty though…but very cold. Close to 11 inches so far. Since first light, the birds have been visiting our two feeders with vigor. They’re almost empty…and will require shoveling a path to refill. They might have to wait a bit, lol.
We’ll be digging out later….enjoy your day! ;)
Oh no! I’m so sorry! Darn it – you don’t need a foot of snow at this point.
Hang in there, Donnamae.
Stay safe.
That Staffordshire pig is the best! How clever. I loved “Hamnet” the book but have yet to see the movie. I don’t have the streaming service it is on so who knows when it will show somewhere I can see it. But I was glad she won, too. I’ve heard such good things about it.
I just subscribed for a 7 day free period on Peacock. I’m going to cancel it tomorrow. Through Amazon Prime. If don’t have that, it may be more difficult to see it.
Her work is stunning.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
I have Hamnet on my list of movies to watch. Even more delighted about it after your review. Happy Egg Cups.
You’ll love it, Linda.
Stay safe.
