We’re in another heat warning event. Today in the high 90s, humid, and to add to the oppressiveness, we have a smoke warning from the wildfires in Canada. Yippee. Smoke warnings tomorrow, as well.
A package arrived in the mail yesterday. You better believe I’d been tracking it. It came all the way from Israel to my door in exactly a week. (I’ve spent lots of time attempting pictures, but the light is a bit of a pain right now.)
From Dragonfly Blythe:

I’d like to introduce you to Rowan.

She has dark auburn hair and, as you can tell, the way the color registers varies.
She has freckles (I’m using Ola’s photo.)

I don’t know how Ola got this level of detail, but God bless her!
If you remember, I had a commission set up with Ola. She was going to create a girl for me. (And that may still happen.) But over a week ago, on a Saturday, she posted a photo saying “In progress.” A girl with curly auburn hair and freckles. My heart started to beat faster. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. I messaged Ola and asked if she was available. Thankfully, Ola was online and responded: Do you want her? You can have her. Yes! Yes! I asked if the hair color was as indicated in the photo and she said “exactly the same.” I paid for her, Ola’s husband took the package to the post office a week ago Tuesday, and she arrived here very quickly.
You know I wanted a redhead Dragonfly Blythe. I was frustrated more than once when someone on my feed was selling a redhead – they wouldn’t ship to the US, someone else got there right before me. In one case, I had been promised a girl whenever the owner decided to sell, but that fell through because she had purchased her from someone who had inflated the price and she wanted to recoup that cost and I wouldn’t overpay. I know what Ola charges, in fact, she makes it crystal clear on her IG account. She has set prices. Anyway, I started to think I’d never get one.
Then Ola announced she was coming back and here we are.
Her eyebrows are incredible. She has faint veins on her forehead. Ola is an incredible artist. And the freckles are perfection. Some customizers make them too big, almost like a caricature. But these are perfect.
Can you tell I’m thrilled?
I am blessed with a dream come true.
Now I have to reconfigure the shelves as I am out of room!
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.

welcome to rowan! happy that your dream came true, along with super-fast shipping and upfront pricing. and, of course, ola’s talents … pretty and realistic. enjoy reconfiguring the shelves (i love puttering like that). :)
hope you can stay indoors and avoid the heat and smoke. we have a week of mid-90s and swamp-level humidity going on so are walking earlier in the morning and keeping curtains closed all day (not fun as we have a favorite, beautiful view … but it helps).
happy, safe wednesday!
kathy
Thank you, Kathy.

Good Morning Claudia! Rowan is gorgeous! Such intense determination! She wanted to be with you! Not enough room on your shelves just means one needs to be always out on an adventure in the bigger world of the house! :) You need a doll sized chair to park on convenient tables (so they won’t always fall down and have somewhere to sit while visiting with you!) :):)
We have the unbearable heat and smoke here too. I couldn’t sleep last night until I opened my windows when the outdoor temps went down to 80… (around one AM)and there was a lovely breeze that kicked up in the wee hours. But I smelled the smoke too and the sun is just an orange ball in the haze. It’s not healthy out there.
Thank you, Betsy.
Stay safe.
It is very obvious that you are THRILLED! And I’m happy for you. Rowan is remarkable…love her hair. Now…better get busy on those shelves. It’s the perfect activity when you have heat and smoke to deal with. Here, too.
Enjoy your day! ;)
Thank you, Donnamae!
Stay safe.
Rowan really is the whole story-that dark auburn hair, the freckles. She is the kind of Dragonfly Blythe girl who arrives after a week-long trip from Israel and immediately takes over the room. And honestly, it’s no wonder boy dolls never stand a chance. Some universes simply belong to the girls. AS for the rest of us, today calls for staying cool, indoors, putting on some music and shutting out the furnace outside.

Thank you, Maria.

Thanks, Roxie.

I think I like her hair the best of all your girls. She is very cute!
We’re at a tolerable 80 today in Oregon … of course the tolerable is because I have A/C! I don’t do well with heat, and your humidity would kill me (I’m a baby😁).
Thank you, Debbie.

Your little dolls are beautiful.
Thank you, Edis!

I am so glad you share your joy and delight on your blog. Thank you! Take care in this heat and smog.
Thank you so much, Marjorie! What kind words!

Your “Rowan” doll looks almost identical to my daughter between the ages of 5 and 7. She had that same curly dk. auburn hair and light dusting of freckles across her nose, along with the same direct and inquisitive look in her eyes.
Thus far she’s my personal favorite of all your beloved “girls”-
Congratulations Claudia, on seeing yet another one of your dreams coming true!
Thank you so much, Elizabeth! Your daughter sounds like a beautiful girl.
I so appreciate your comment. She is a dream girl, for sure!
