Spring = lush, lush green. Everywhere.
We’re in the midst of some very hot temperatures, which will last at least a week. Lots of watering outside and on the porch and work on the dollhouse must take place in the morning hours. There is no air conditioning in the studio. That’s what I did yesterday and what I’m doing today.

I’m halfway through laying the floor in the bedroom. This is fiddly, painstaking work and what you see here took 4 hours to complete. I’m happy with it. Today, I will finish it. I will say it’s enormously satisfying to see it all come together!

Wild roses.

Buttercups. Love, love them.
You’ve read about my dear friends, Joe and Jan. We shared a house together for a few years, right before I moved to Philadelphia for graduate school. We lost Jan last year to cancer. Joe was there by her side throughout that battle, taking care of everything for her. Now, he is facing his own battle. He has a cancerous growth on his kidney, as well as a growth on his abdomen. The growth on his abdomen was removed during outpatient surgery a couple of days ago. He will have a partial robotic nephrectomy on the 18th to remove the carcinoma from his right kidney. It looks like it is early stage and that is a good thing. But this is very worrying. After all his constant support and care of our Jan, he’s facing this. Needless to say, I’m thinking of him all the time. Jan and Joe are/were like family to me.
And on that note, I’ll close.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

So lovely to see your blooms! Hope your friend Joe’s surgery will be successful.
Thank you, Ellen.
Stay safe.
I’m so sorry to hear of your good friend’s health challenges. Life seems so unfair, and he doesn’t have his partner to help him as he helped her.
We’re about to go into the same period of high heat – we’ve been on vacation in western NY with perfect crisp temperatures so its especially hard to adjust to sweltering.
Cheers, anyway, Ceci
No, he doesn’t. I wish I lived closer.
Thanks so much, Ceci.
Stay safe.
will keep everyone in my prayers, including your sister and friend joe, and you with worries for them. life is beautiful and life can be so hard!
:/
…
i can see why you like sitting outside with all the flowers and greenery and for the same reason like sitting in the den … what beautiful views. :) stay safe working outside in the heat and humidity! have you and don put in the other air conditioner?
your work on the beacon hill is beautiful! the photos clearly show your efforts and patience to install that pretty wallpaper and flooring. good job!
my sister and i are going to the chicago-area (nw suburb) tomorrow to hear the bodeans again. will go again the following weekend to hear todd rundgren. that show was sadly moved from a venue less than ten miles from where we live, but for being on a sunday, will start at 5 pm so we’ll turn around and drive five hours back, get home about midnight or 1 am … no need for a hotel room. :)
for now, other things must be done.
happy, safe friday and weekend to everyone.
kathy
Have fun, Kathy!
Stay safe.
I hate cancer! My daughter had a double mastectomy a few weeks ago, waiting for more healing then reconstruction. Fortunately no chemo or radiation. I had a right side colonectomy 3 years ago . we lost my daughter in law to bile duct/liver cancer a year and a half ago. It is all too much.
Oh, Brenda, you have had to endure a lot of loss and illness.
I’m so sorry.
Stay safe.
hej, brenda. i’m sorry you and your family have had those losses and troubles. “too much” is right! take care and know other people care and keep you in prayers. xoxo

I am truly sorry to hear about Joe’s health problems, and the fact that he has to do this alone. Life is so unfair.
Your wild blooms are doing their thing. So pretty. Everything here is lush, too, only because of regular sprinkling.
The flooring is coming along nicely…and really complements the wallpaper. Enjoy your day! ;)
Thankfully, Joe is a church organist and has a support system there.
Thanks, Donnamae.
Stay safe.
Strength and positive thoughts go out to your friend Joe.
Thanks, Wendy.
Stay safe.
I am so sorry that your dear friend is having problems. I will certainly send healing thoughts into the universe for him.
I too like buttercups they are so cheerful.
Take Care,
Kaye
Thank you, Kaye. Much appreciated.
Stay safe.
Both my father and my father-in-law have had kidney cancer. From what I understand, it’s one of those slow-growing ones. They both had surgery and did not need chemo or radiation. Hopefully Joe’s prognosis is similar.
I sure hope so! Thank you, Bridget, for this encouraging information!
Stay safe.
Good Morning Claudia! The flooring is looking great! I love the dark color with the blue paper. I look forward to reading today’s post… I am reading them in order… because I am like that!
I hope your friend Joe recovers fully. My brother had a kidney removed three years ago (tumor was too big to remove!) and last year he ran the Colorado marathon in the mountains! In his late sixties! I will keep his well-being in my prayers.
That’s encouraging, Betsy! Thank you.
Stay safe.
I’m realizing with all too much clarity that we are seeing our dear friends deal with any number of health challenges. Sending all good vibes Joe’s way. That floor, the gardens — loads of work!
Lots of work.
We have several friends dealing with rather dire health issues.
I hate this.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
Your flowers are amazing. Prayers for Joe. My husband had the same robotic surgery and the same tumor inside of his kidney last year. I hope that everything goes well.
I have to have a tooth surgery tomorrow in a city nearby. I hope that it goes well. I thought I’d look nice so I spent about 20 mins putting on press on nails.. What a disaster! I have nail glue all over my fingers and my flannel pj’s. Well, that’s a first and last for me.
Take care, be safe
Press on nails would drive me crazy! I used to have my nails done (when we first moved into this house, so that would 21 years ago.) I eventualy stopped because it ruined my nails and I do so much gardening and mini construction work, that they weren’t practical.
Stay safe, Irene.
