What is the date? January 5th? Christmas is over and the New Year has come, right? Then I am ready for Spring. It is very cold here and the charm of snow and freezing temperatures has worn thin. The heat in the house is making my skin dry and Riley’s hair is full of static electricity. You understand, don’t you? It feels as if I live in a bunker.
Ah well. The reality is I live in the northeast and it is only January. But it has not escaped my notice that I was in sunny San Diego last year at this time. I believe I was walking on the beach on this date a year ago. Hmmm – what’s wrong with this picture?
Work continues on the dollhouse. I am in the midst of putting a couple coats of primer on the outside. I’m also ‘shabbifying’ a coffee table that Marsha sent me. I’ll post photos when I’m done. I’ve decided the interior is going to be Shabby Country Chic. Everything I would like to do in MHC will be on display in the dollhouse. By the way, many months ago I asked for dollhouse name suggestions. I love this one – Hummingbird Cottage – and I think I’m going with it. Unfortunately, it was suggested by an anonymous commenter, so I can’t give credit. Nevertheless, thank you!
Thanks for all your caring comments about Don. He is fine – the ankle was painful for a few days, but all is well now. Happy Tuesday.

Being a fellow North-Easterner, I know how you feel, but this is where I’ve lived ALL my life. Am I used to it? NO!!!! Do I like it?.. Well, I like a White Christmas, and then I wish I never see it again till NEXT Christmas! (0; Temps here are supposed to go up to 30 by Wednesday, but back down to the TEENS by Saturday, so I’m just hoping the wind chills aren’t much worse! Stay in and keep warm, as best you can. I plan on making a nice homemade macaroni and cheese dish tonight.. GOOD comfort food for this time of year! ~tina

Hi Claudia:
Glad to hear that Don is feeling better. I know how cottage-bound I would feel with all that snow and cold. After over 45 years of living in snow, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy NOT living with it in the winter anymore. I can really empathize with you.
Have fun indoors working on your Hummingbird Cottage. Can’t wait to see what you do with the place!
xoxo

Good Morning Sweetie…
Well we are going to have another sunny day in the 70’s here in the valley. It is so beautiful this time of year. No heat yet, just nice warm temps.
I wish I could bottle some up for you, and send it your way. I am sending some through my screen can you feel it?
I love looking at the snow pics you have shared. They are beautiful, and actually I have a bird bath just like yours. I will have to share pics soon. How funny is that? Same bird bath, so many miles away.
Well sweetie, stay warm and safe. It is always so nice to come over for a visit.
Country hugs sweetie and so much love…Sherry

Yup, it’s cold here in Pa for sure! I’m just hoping the wind calms down for us soon, that will make a huge difference. I’m not wishing for spring yet though, I realize that sounds crazy but I’m enjoying putzing around the house without having to worry about gardening or mowing. Talk to me next month and I’ll be singing a different tune for sure. :)

I have to admit that I started yearning for spring the minute my Burpee’s Catalog came in the mail…so how long before winter is over???

Love the name ‘Hummingbird Cottage’. Perfect! :)
I’m actually loving being “stuck” inside this winter. I’m not working anymore, I’m not pounding nails or lifting walls cause the tiny house is finished – well, kinda-sorta. I’m finally getting some rest, playing w/ art, and NOT looking forward to spring because Hubby has more heavy projects planned!
Happy Tuesday to you too, Claudia!

I too am tired of the cold. I am more energized in warm weather and get so much more done. I will craft some today while potato leek soup is bubbling away on the stove.. it’s a bit cold to do much else. I’m in Texas so thankfully we’re not buried in the snow…Stay warm..

I have a humidifier going alllllll the time! It is the only thing that keeps us from zapping our poor husky dog every time we pet her, or she jumps off a chair. All that hair really makes some static!!

Claudia, it’s cold here, too! Pity the poor Floridians who are clueless and don’t have clothes… we’re walking around in half baked outfits shivering. LOL!
I love that name for your dollhouse. PERFECT!
If you get a chance, please email me. I can’t click on your email because my default email thingamabob was never installed. Thanks! :-)

Oh Claudia, having endured 3 Minnesota winters I know exactly how you feel…dry skin, static and everything.
Hummingbird Cottage is a wonderful name for the house. I can’t wait to see oyu get started and there are so many wonderfully shabby things about.

Hi Claudia!
Yikes! Look at all of that snow…..I have a similar picture of my birdbath (I think it’s exactly like yours) last year…..fortunately no snow here yet. It really cramps my style. Just lots and lots and lots of rain…..after all……it IS the Pacific NorthWET….
Love Hummingbird Cottage….How cute is that?
Happy New Year dear one….
Huggies,

It’s cold here too! And it usually isn’t this cold. Can’t wait to see the dollhouse all dolled up!

It’s cold and snowy here, too! Not usual for the prairie! But winter white is much prettier than winter brown. More snow and single digits are in our forecast!

I wish it were spring. I am trying to keep spring in my heart… trying not to spend too much time thinking about old man winter. I am looking forward to seeing the shabby room in your doll house.
Blessings….

Not spring time yet. But times sure seems to be flying by and it will be here before we know it.
Dry skin is what I hate most about winter.
