Is it Thursday already? The weeks seem to fly by.
Some random photos of the house, taken yesterday afternoon:
My rather cluttered office with the box containing a new modem still unopened after 3 months.
Vintage plant stand (found at my neighbor’s barn sale) in the office. Those two plants – the pothos and the spider plant – were once tiny little grocery store plants that I bought to put in my apartment in Hartford. They have grown so much since then and they’re hassle-free. This little corner houses extra pots and potting soil, waterers and saucers.
Don’s mini studio. That fireplace remains one of my favorite creations – I’m still chuffed when I look at it.
And a look at the piano, a piece that is so filled with family memories that it will always be priceless.
Though it desperately needs a tuning. I can’t even stand to play it, it’s so out of tune.
Coming soon.
Don had a jam session with some local musicians last night and he got to play his dream electric guitar. It’s on his “I’m saving up for it” list. I want him to get it because it’s in my favorite colors, turquoise and white. There’s a picture of it on his Instagram account, which you can find here. His IG account name is: @donsroadtrip.
Tonight? Either Mudbound or Lady Bird.
Happy Thursday.

That little fireplace always makes me think of Scandinavian houses!
Claudia says
I know! And houses in the sixties, as well.

You think the weeks are going by quickly? I think this week in particular has dragged. Guess it’s all in your perspective. I was mesmerized by
Don ‘s Instagram account. I love seeing the world through someone’s else’s eyes! ;)
Claudia says
Well, when you know your husband is moving into the city in less than a week and a half – yes, the days are going by quickly!
Donnamae says
Oh yes…you are right about that! I would think they are going by quickly too…forgot about that detail…oops! ;)

This week seems to be flying by for me also. So much crammed into this week and next before my surgery. Then some rest with no lifting or much bending. I can do it! Keeping Annie off my stomach should prove interesting. She is a big lap cat and doesn’t take no for an answer but she will have too! Today is an at home day to clean house, do some much needed paperwork and try to get caught up. I love Don’s mini studio, I could move right in and leave my mess behind. I have enjoyed following Don’s IG account. He has an interesting eye and viewing the world through it is amazing. I hope he gets that guitar!! Hugs!
Claudia says
You and Annie may have a standoff!
Don has a great eye and he loves taking pictures. I love when he puts two completely different magazines next to each other in the checkout line. He cracks me up.

Watch Mudslide, I am very interested in your opinion of this movie. We watched Strange Weather with Holly Hunter last night and I loved it.
Smiles!

Claudia says
I love Holly Hunter in pretty much anything. Did you see her in the The Big Sick? She’s great!

We do. Sigh! Don is not ready to go back to work yet, but he has over a week to go, so hopefully he’ll get ready!

Cat-sitting for a friend, so the week seems to go by slowly since I’m in someone else’s house a few hours a day. Almost time to go over there. Right now, I have to fix and eat breakfast. I usually have the TV on, and one of my cats has become addicted to Perry Mason! She sits next to me on the counter and watches the TV with interest. I’m reading The Genius of Birds, by Jennifer Ackerman. I studied zoology at university, and my favorite vertebrate are birds. The book is fascinating and is full of stories and scientific studies (written in a very comprehensible way) that show how the bird brain isn’t the stereotypical “birdbrain”.
Claudia says
That’s awfully nice of you to cat sit.
I love birds, too. I’ll have to look out for that book, Wendy.

You taught me a new word today, Claudia. CHUFFED. I love that! Been adding new words to a little vocab list I’ve been keeping since college & will now add CHUFFED. And no kidding but that list is not so little, actually. Since college, I’ve probably added at least 3-4 new words a week to this list [made MUCH easier thanks to computers, needless to say]. So much easier to manage a virtual document than to lug around little notebooks in my tote. I do wish I’d kept the notebooks now however [instead of recycling them]. Twould be fun to look through them & remember when I first learned this or that. But we just can’t keep everything we accumulate – and I do loathe clutter. Looking forward to seeing that new modern dollhouse come to life. You’ll need to create another “Caroline” who lives there! Peace.

Chuffed is very British, probably why I like it!
I’m still stumped as to what I’m going to do with the dollhouse. I want it modern, but also eclectic. But that’s all I know at the moment.

It is amazing what a piano tuning will do to change the sound from bad to good. My husband is a church organist and choir director and also teaches music in school, so our piano gets a lot of playing. I was worried that he was having a problem with his hearing or something else as everything was sounding “off” to me. The tuning restored my faith! I hope Don gets his guitar.
We are under weather alerts for ice and snow this afternoon. About 65 school districts in our area are sending the kids home just after noon. Oh, how I hate the thought of ice. Wishing and hoping it goes elsewhere.
Have a great Thursday, kiddo. So glad Don will “only be” a do-able train ride away, and not across the country this time. I can imagine the days are going by much too quickly.
Claudia says
I have been very neglectful of the piano. When times have been tough and money has been tight, the piano was low priority. And now, a lot of time has passed and it’s really out of tune.
Stay safe during the bad weather, Chris. Yes, I dread ice, too. Makes me very nervous!

Claudia, I have been enjoying the pictures of your home. Boy that kitchen stove is a winner. I love looking at it. Your plants ,the lighting throughout. The picture of Don’s miniature studio looks like a real place. I love it. Stay safe and warm. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Claudia says
The stove is our dream come true and we never get tired of looking at it! Thanks so much, Susie.

Doesn’t it seem like time flies by so quickly? I cannot believe January is almost half over. Happy to see the temperatures rising.

Claudia says
I can’t either! And that means that there’s only a couple more months of winter!

Great pics Claudia!…I never tire of seeing photos from around your home…it is so good to see Don’s studio again…I love your home office set up…cluttered or not!…I have a vintage plant stand just like yours…got it at a yard sale for a dollar I believe…it originally had a long plastic planter in the top where the fancy metal work is…it was kind of hard and brittle and it cracked while I was trying to plant in it…I have been searching for a replacement but no luck yet…I think that you and Don are never really apart as your love and minds and wonderful memories are always with you…keeping you together….What a gift you are to each other!
Claudia says
Thank you so much, Nancy!
