To say the weather has been unseasonable is putting it mildly. It’s been in the sixties for the past two days, winds are high and very gusty, we had an intense rain storm come through this morning where the rain was blowing sideways, and now it’s sunny. It’s still very windy, but the sun is shining brightly.
Frankly, it’s too warm. By the end of this next week the temps will plunge into the low thirties, followed by several days where it never gets above the twenties. And they’re predicting snow next weekend. The new slogan for January: It’s got everything!
I did a nice chunk of work on Jane Eyre yesterday and I’ll finish up today. Tomorrow, I leave for Hartford. I’ve only got 5 days of work on this show, but they’ve plotted out my days rather nicely in a way that makes sense for the show.
I finished the novel this morning. Heavens, it’s beautifully written! What a pleasure it was to read it and I don’t think I would have done that if I hadn’t been contracted to coach this show. A win-win.
I now, of course, have to decide what to read next. The eternal question: what books do I take to Hartford? Because you know I have to take a least two, just in case one of the books doesn’t fit my mood.
Because I’ll be staying in the apartments, I’ll have to take some coffee and filters and a big mug (their mugs are too small) and some half and half, as well as some frozen meals to pop in the microwave in the evening. And something to snack on. Plus my laptop, my chargers, my phone, my research, and on and on.
Anyway, I’m going to hang around here today with my husband. Because I don’t like to be away from him and I’ll miss him.
Happy Sunday.

Oh, that glorious sunshine!
If we could have a bit of blue sky this morning, it would make the cold more bearable. We have the dubious honour of being the coldest place on earth next week. A dear friend from Mexico City is visiting later next week – she’ll think she’s been transported to the moon!
I’ll be very interested to hear about the Jane Eyre production when you return – would love to hear about the adaptation, the costumes, etc. I’m with you when it comes to my particular brand of coffee – don’t leave home without it!
Claudia says
Oh, that is indeed a dubious honor!
I’ll fill you in on the production as it progresses. Thanks, Barbara!

A tornado and high winds came through our town late last night. It did quite a bit of damage in our little downtown. We’re in Ohio. I’m pretty sure it went right over house but didn’t touch down. Scary!
Claudia says
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear of the damage, but I’m very happy to hear you are safe, Cheryl.

Our weather here is crazy as well. Hoping for some cold just because! Enjoy your trip and work on Jane Eyre. Hugs!
Claudia says
Thanks, Linda. Today – still windy – all day long – and still warm. Nutso weather!
Marilyn says
Have a safe trip and enjoy the nice weather.

as much as i love a grey, rain-stormy day (a lot), i do appreciate sunshine and am glad it’s streaming into your home for you to enjoy today.
glad you’re enjoying the book and work, too.
am sure you’ll find some good books to take to hartford. appreciate when you share (among so many other things) titles and what you think of those books. is that book on the table one don is reading? i am trying to read more fiction (and just read more, period), but tend to read much more non-fiction. anyway, travel safe!

Yes, that’s a book that Don is reading, Kathy. Thank you!

Well…for what it’s worth, it’s definitely January around here. It’s cold outside, and a little snowy. Our weather is expected, yours is definitely not. Can’t quite seem to get the sun to shine either around here. And, I need sunshine.
Have a good couple of days in Hartford…travel safe my friend! ;)
Claudia says
It will be January by the end of this week and then we’re going into a kind of deep freeze! Thank you, Donna!

Sending you good wishes for safe travels, Claudia. Sounds like you have your Hartford Survival Kit ready to roll. I know it’s work, but have fun with it too!

Thank you Jeanie!
