Here you see proof that I have started in on the Beacon Hill.
Several windows had to be fixed. They were either missing the acrylic window pane or part of the frame. Because I have an additional kit, I pulled frames and window sheets from there. It’s fiddly work. As I learned from working on Dove Cottage, Greenleaf dollhouse kits are inconsistent in execution. The parts don’t always match from kit to kit. So you have to cheat a little to get them to fit, or as in yesterday’s work, jam them in place.
I swore a lot.
My fingers were covered in glue. I also discovered that I have to make a trip to Michael’s to get some paints. I haven’t used them in a long time and some of them have dried out. In the case of the color white, I have barely any left. Everything is now reattached except for the front door, which I’ll delay until the end of the project. Rehabbing an already assembled dollhouse means it can’t possibily be perfect and I’m fine with that.
Besides, decorating the dollhouse is my favorite part of the whole thing.
We’re a bit down because the holiday season has ended – also because the Orange Clown has pulled another bone-headed move. It’s stupid and an attempt to distract from the E Files and J. Smith’s testimony. It’s also all about oil. (I do this with names to keep trolls from finding the blog.)
We are keeping the tree up for another two days or so. I’ve been slowly removing ornaments that are in danger of falling. I told Don that I needed the lights a couple of days longer and he agreed. I may or may not get the ornament bins out of the shed today. But the lights will stay in place just a bit longer.

I love following your miniatures work. I hope Beacon Hill will be fun and challenging for you.
We have one and sometimes two strings of colorful lights clipped to the kitchen window valance. These stay up all year. We seldom plug them in during daylight savings time but I like seeing the lights on during dark cold winter evenings.
I think a lot of people do that. It makes sense!

Good for you to start the renovations. I’m sure you will enjoy it. It’s 5 years tomorrow since, well, you know what. He never should have been granted immunity. Yes, enjoy your tree lights a little while longer. I wear glasses and when I look at our tree without them each light looks like a tiny butterfly, so pretty. Good Afternoon Claudia! I am excited to see that you have begun “wrestling” with the Beacon Hill! Yes, these kits are old and pre-date the concept of laser precision cutting. Old fashioned die-stamping could accomplish a lot, but not be so perfect. I have the same problem with my paints…. I have been carrying some projects “forward” for a long time and am always dismayed to find the tubes of paint gone dry. I am glad you have an extra kit for “parts” that helps a lot with the inevitable missed or broken pieces. Just imagine how much you are going to enjoy this property when you have it fixed up to your liking!
I had to take my trees down yesterday, but I was ready. They were very brittle…. it was past time really. So On with the New year! :):):)
Ours is pretty brittle. But I’m betting we don’t take it down until Wednesday!

When I took the ornaments off our tree yesterday, I decided to reorganize them, and put aside ornaments that have not been used in a few years to donate. Our tree is still up…might leave it up, might take it down. Have to see where our ambition level is lol.

We are also leaving the tree up. I needed some sparkle especially after this last unbelievable political folly. I keep watching the videos of the monks walking, makes me wish I lived nearby. I am praying with them and for them for peace and safety.

None of my stuff has been put away as I have been sick in bed all week. Went to the doctor again today and got 5 new prescriptions to help me get rid of this terrible flu. I haven’t been so sick for a long time. I hope the new meds will have me back on track soon.

Your collection of ornaments is beautiful. Love the older antique ones. That is so fun you are starting on the Beacon Hill. You are right, decorating it is the most fun. I think I am finally starting to get over the flu. It hangs on forever!
Of course, a day can not go by without some catastrophe happening and the orange clown and Barbie lying to us. That poor lady! What a shame. May she RIP. Take care.
