It seems like it was only a few days ago that the tips of all the hostas emerged from the ground. Boy, oh boy, has everything taken off in the last week! Green, green, green.
And it has finally stopped raining – at least for a couple of days. I can hear the sound of the rushing river across the street. We got a LOT of rain. And the two people who reside in this house were sick and tired of gray skies and constant rain. However, our water table is happy, which means our well is happy. And all of the grass and trees and plants are very happy, indeed.
There isn’t a whole lot to tell you about as we were stuck indoors. I washed the sheets, vacuumed, cleaned, and read. Don played his guitar, made an apple pie, and ran errands. We watched old movies at night.
I don’t know how long it will take before we can attempt to mow. Certainly not until this afternoon. More likely, tomorrow. The grass is quite long even in the corral which I mowed on Saturday. You know I’m just itching to get going, but I also don’t want the lawnmower to clog. So we’ll check in on the wetness this afternoon.
Jessie on a rainy day. We had to stay on the porch, of course, but she looks rather spring-like, don’t you think? I have another Little Keiko head that I’m going to work on soon. I’ll be painting another faceup. The wig and eyes are in the mail. But she’ll need a body. I usually order from a shop in Spain, but I’m a little worried about the increase in price due to tariffs. I will have to contact them to find out the price difference and/or find another source here in the States.
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.
Love your photos. We’ve actually had temperatures in the 80s the last couple days, with a cooling off now before it warms again this weekend. I was noticing yesterday how the hills near here are losing the emerald green color, turning golden. Glad your rain has stopped so you can do the things you need to do. Apple pie and old movies sounds wonderful. Yes, I am very curious about how or when we start seeing the effects of the tariffs. Happy Wednesday.
I imagine some people are already seeing the effects of the tariffs. Not me, yet, but it will happen.
Thanks, Barrie.
Stay safe.
dear Claudia/Don — oolala!! what beautiful hostas!! we had lots of rain (during Derby, of course!!!) now it is cooler. want to put houseplants outside but wx man says some mornings near frost-like temperatures, so am waiting. this little girl is so cute, looks very tiny w/all that hair!! an apple pie sounds really good, hope y’all enjoy it!! good luck with the mowing — we can hear the grass growing around here!! stay safe/healthy
I’m sorry you have to wait so long to put your houseplants outside!
We mowed a lot today and we’re very, very tired. But we did have a piece of apple pie.
Stay safe, Linda.
glad your well and plants are happy and that you get a break from rain so you can mow again. also glad you will soon have another doll to style! hopefully the tariffs won’t raise the cost too much or slow down her trip.
continuing to sort and donate things here, taking breaks mainly to watch “the waltons” and “andy griffith”. been finding myself crabby if i miss those shows (especially “the waltons”) so, even though there is much to do before officially moving, lately i’ve also been taking speedy little breaks to consolidate/organize art and writings on my children’s picture book ideas, and getting a bit inspired to paint and write again.
hope everyone has a good day. stay safe.
kathy
Do you have mixed feelings as to moving? I know you love your little apartment.
Stay safe, Kathy.
Wow, you have the cutest outfits for your girls. One of mine is wearing a cardi still, I have to play with them in new clothes. There’s a woman in Calgary that makes clothing and I like to support her. Her dresses and such are becoming really nice. She thanked me at xmas by giving me more clothes. How sweet! I haven’t been outside at all yet. No art being done, no journalling. I’m still in a slump. I think the warmer weather will give me a boost. Take care
Most of my girls need a seasonal change of clothes, but I haven’t wanted to do anything!
Stay safe, Irene.
Your hostas are gorgeous. We dug up, then planted hostas at my son’s place. And moved some here…and added a couple of perennials, too. Surprised at the prices. So I bought less, and will have to make do. It’s going to be very warm here starting this weekend with no rain in sight. So it’s time to hand water my new plants. Only one more garden bed to deal with, then I can relax. We are trying to get our yard work done quickly, as we leave next week.
I hope the mowing goes well for you. Jessie looks cute on the porch. Enjoy your day! ;)
You must be excited for your trip, Donnamae. Just think! You actually get to leave the country! The best part, of course, is seeing your family.
Stay safe.
It’s amazing how all this rain the last couple of days has turned our little town into a rain forest! So much green! I love it but still so muddy I haven’t weeded. Not sure how I will mow the lawn. Hopefully, my daughter or son in law will be able to help me out. My husband tore his shoulder rotary cuff. and we are awaiting the surgery date.
We have not noticed any tariff effects yet. I think that the companies we outsource for IT parts have thing stocked in warehouses for now. We shall see how soon it happens. I am still in the “I can’t believe this is happening mode.” I don’t think I will ever understand the voting choices/outcome.
I’m so sorry your husband is dealing with a torn rotary cuff.
I think the election was stolen by T and M*sk. And I think we’ll hear that news in the next few months.
Stay safe, Betsy.
