I watched this ladybug explore all of the petals on the clematis.
Then, while I was trying to take another picture of her, she took off.
These beauties are blooming in the bed in front of the porch.
I hope you’re having a lovely three-day weekend. Nothing special on our docket for today – we’re just hanging out. We’re starting three very hot days in a row, so part of the day will be spent with the air conditioning on.
But it’s a lovely, sunny morning and I’m going to go yank some of the forget-me-nots that have gone to seed. I’m still feeling a bit under the weather, so I’m not going to overdo it. I promise.
Have a lovely day.
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.

Feel better!
Same here on staying home and taking it easy. We’ve been out there in the world the past couple of days and I just want to hunker down. Very noticeable in my neck o’ the woods of how, other than the local marina (which has been packed with tourists and locals), there aren’t a whole lot of people on the beaches or day-camping on the coast road; although, true, the mornings are hazy/foggy which is typical for this time of year and most people want sun, sun, sun. Still, so many times on the freeways in the past three days, the traffic is light, so we figure the price of gasoline ($6/gallon here for ‘regular’) in Southern Calif is keeping people home (a neighbor of ours who’s a big fisherman told us he has stopped going to his favorite lake an hour away because the fuel he expends on his boat-towing truck is an astronomical cost for him now).
You are a nature photographer, Claudia! Love Miss Ladybug on her pretty flower.
My aim today is to try to coax my feral cat back to my yard. Ever since the mountain lion sighting a couple of weeks ago (in the backyard next door), the cat is freaked and has been holing up at another neighbor’s house (which is six houses away); I was so glad to FINALLY locate him yesterday at this other cat-friendly house (she puts food out, so I’m hoping he’s eating), but he is elderly and frail at age 14 and I’m afraid he’s gonna get hit by a car or something as he’s not terribly street-savvy; I’m wondering if he’s trying to tell me that the mountain lion is still lurking on this tangled hillside on my side of the street (which makes one take a pause); so, he can’t therefore come home yet as it’s unsafe. He’ll always be wild, born of the bushes and a hill as untamed as HE is, so I have so little control yet am involved with him all these years. Sigh.

may God bless you, your neighbor and everyone else looking out for the cat and other innocents of this world!
hope the mountain lion has been or soon will be captured and safely re-homed.
agree about claudia’s photography skills!
keep cool, take care of yourself and stay safe, vicki!

Thinking of your feral cat and I hope you successfully coax him back to the yard. If not, maybe he knows something you don’t know and he’s keeping safe.
Stay safe yourself, Vicki.

hope you feel better soon and have a good day indoors by the air conditioner.
members of my family and i took an overnight trip this weekend to the small towns where my parents grew up. very bittersweet (also nerve-wracking because i don’t enjoy staying in hotels anyway and covid is, of course, still around), but it was good to go and good to be home.
with that, a late reply to your weekend posts … the studio rearrangement looks good, sounds helpful. also, glad to hear that your sister is feeling better for the changes she’s making. prayers have been said for her and her children and will continue.
with thanks to and prayers for all the service members, veterans and especially those who gave their lives in service to others and to their families for that service and so many sacrifices …

Well, of course, I mowed a bit and pulled lots of weeds. Now I’m tired, but I just showered and now I’ll rest.
Thanks so much, Kathy.
Stay safe.

Good for you, Brenda.
We’re very familiar with Honeymoon Island. Don and I have visited several times, and my sister goes there all the time. Very close to her old house, and to her new house.

So far, a lovely day — sunny, warm, gentle breeze. I walked down to Rick’s after my infusion for breakfast and later we’ll plant cemetery flowers and take a picnic to the park. I haven’t really been out much for two weeks now and it will be a real treat. Enjoy a beautiful day.
Claudia says
Enjoy your picnic, Jeanie. You deserve some outside time with Rick.
Stay safe.

A lazy day here as well. Lila (the new puppy) and I did yard work–I pulled scarlet pimpernel and bindweed and she patrolled the pond. It’s a coolish day with the trademark Sierra blue sky and drifting clouds–just kinda perfect.
I’m musing on my mom’s generation that was shocked by the Pearl Harbor attack that finally catapulted us into the world war. It’s history to us now, but they didn’t know how it would end. I feel like it’s my turn to continue the work they did for liberty and democracy, even if I also don’t know how our challenges today will resolve. I’m keeping the faith on this Memorial Day.
Also, I’m always astonished by the Darth Maul look of baby ladybugs–so alien!
Stay healthy and be careful out there.
Claudia says
Thanks, Roxie.
