Light and Dark

November 29, 2023 at 8:49 am by Claudia

On Monday, I went out to get the mail late in the afternoon and what I saw made me run in the house for my camera.

Such an extraordinary sky! Dark combined with golden light. Gosh, I love it!

Someone asked me if we got snow or rain and no, we didn’t. A front moving through, I think.

I sent out three packages on Tuesday. Yesterday, three more pieces were purchased! So I guess I know what I’ll be doing today. I’m quite pleased that I’ve sold six pieces of McCoy. I listed a few additional pieces yesterday afternoon. I keep walking around the house looking for other things to sell and I’ve found a few. But there are pieces of McCoy I am not yet ready to sell because they’re my favorites. And I’m not going to sell any Roseville. No egg cups either, though I did sell my duplicate Snow White. I didn’t need the duplicate any longer, so I was able to release it into the world.

Some butter pats, maybe.

This is the remaining inventory (only so you get an idea of what I’m selling – all of you are quite familiar with my McCoy…) It isn’t always easy to choose what to let go of.

Mostly pastels but one midcentury McCoy piece in a dark green. One of the very first pieces I purchased.

I’m really enjoying Tom Lake  by Ann Patchett. Her prose flows so effortlessly and it’s a great story. The fact that the plot involves a summer theater and my home state of Michigan is an added bonus!

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

I’m so pleased that your McCoy is selling. I have some collectibles I want to have new homes and after things settle down a bit I might try to sell. Love the dark and the light you were able to show in your photo! Hugs!

It certainly looks like you are about to head out to Oz! That sky is breathtaking – and scary. Wonderful photos; thanks for sharing. Also, congratulations on putting some of your collection up for sale. I should do the same but… you know all the excuses! Have a lovely day!

It’s very satisfying to pass things along to others – I couldn’t do it with everything, but definitely some of my collections can move on.

      Stay safe, Ellen.

beautiful clouds! i would have wanted to sit outside and watch them until they left or it got late or i got too cold, and i definitely would have taken photos, too.

congratulations on more sales. money is nice, of course, but doesn’t it also feel good … like the sales are validating your choice to let go of some things? :)

happy and relieved to say third scarf is done; also a quick big-yarn hat. will deliver them and other things knit by my sister and me to the church today (sale is sunday). will keep knitting hats this winter, also must work on counted-cross-stitch projects (gifts for family members). first i need to roll skeins of yarn into balls (how i prefer to work with yarn and also something i find rather therapeutic).

hope you, don and everyone else here have a great day with easy plans and easy weather. stay safe in every way.

Yes, things are being sold faster than I had imagined, so it’s definitely a “yes” to my decision.

      Thank you, Kathy.

Isn’t Tom Lake a gem? I couldn’t put it down but I didn’t want it to end. I loved every page.

Well done on the McCoy! I’m impressed!

I can see why you dashed in for your camera — that’s an amazing view! The dark sky, the light reflecting off the tree, which looks close to white with the lighting, it’s all magnificent!

Congrats on selling the things you want to pass on to others. Must feel good. Those pictures you took of the turbulent skies are gorgeous and sort of frightening. We had an inch of snow the other day and it’s still hanging around. Winter is here and suddenly the Christmas things are coming up from the basement!

    Take care,
    Kay

That sky is beautiful. Good for you for selling things that no longer bring joy. I think I am going to sell my Midge doll at a Toy buying event. I don’t need top dollar, Midge just needs a good home.

Midge needs a good home, but it sure would be nice if she brought in some good money! And I think she might.

      Stay safe, Kay.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
