Lilacs

May 3, 2024 at 7:50 am by Claudia

It’s been unusually warm this week, but it’s going back to normal today. This morning is sunny, the grass is too long (Don has to mow since my hand is still troublesome,) I’ve planted all my pots except for the ones in the secret garden. The warm temps supercharged all the perennials and they’re growing by leaps and bounds. Every day I see the trees leaf out more and more.

My favorite time of year.

Speaking of favorites:

They’re especially lush this year. And the scent!!!

Don loved filming the other day. It went well and he got home at a decent hour, which is a plus. He’s missed working so much. He says it’s like being home again. It’s a world he knows very well. In fact, this year is the 50 year anniversary of his first SAG job.

There is supposed to be one more episode in June. Fingers crossed!

I found out on Wednesday that my mother’s cousin, Jane, died. Jane was one of my favorite people. She was so kind and warm and generous. We often chatted on Facebook. Jane and my mom were both only children, so they thought of each other as sisters. Jane lived a long and full life. She was 90. But it does feel like the connection to my mother’s family is now gone. Rest in Peace, dear Jane,

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Sorry to hear about your mother’s cousin, but so nice she had such a positive impact on you., and probably vice versa. You remembered her so thoughtfully. I can almost smell those incredible lilacs, and so beautiful to see. Don has had quite a lengthy involvement with his acting…hope he gets more parts in the future. We’ve been having warm, breezy weather the last week, but tomorrow is supposed to be 20 degrees cooler and rainy most of the day. The lawn definitely needs the rain. So tomorrow will be a good reading day for me. I’m still working on The Boys in the Boat. Happy Friday!

sorry for the loss of your mother’s cousin. glad she had a long, full life, that you two could chat. i am sure you both added goodness to each other’s days.

glad to hear don’s acting job went well and i, too, hope and pray there’s more ahead, including next month. and happy 50th sag anniversary to don … quite an accomplishment, quite a career in a not-easy industry!

hope your hand is feeling better, that those lilacs stick around and share their most-lovely scent with you for a long time.

sorry i cannot recall the name of this blythe doll, but is she expressing your feelings about that most recent puzzle you worked? or telling you “no more puzzles right now”? whatever, she is sweet and her dress, socks and hair go perfectly with lilacs.

going through what i hope is the last bin of papers to sort/file/shred (there’s a free paper-shredding event in two weeks, thanks to a local bank that is a great community partner). almost halfway through “a gentleman in moscow”. done knitting wool hats until this fall. renewing my plan and willpower to give up sugar. also bread, or at least not have some every day. sandwiches are quick and easy for someone like me who doesn’t enjoy cooking, but i should cut it out or at least down.

hoping for an easy day here. think i’ll get it … make it be that way. :)

hope you, don and everyone else have a good, easy day, too. stay safe!

No, that’s the puzzle I’m working on now. Chloe just stopped by.

I hope you’re enjoying A Gentleman in Moscow. It’s almost time for my annual read again!

      Stay safe, Kathy.

I’m so sorry to hear of Jane’s passing, Claudia. My deepest sympathies.

It’s wonderful that Don has had this job and is loving it. I hope it leads to other roles with the director or others who have worked with him. A good reminder that Don Sparks is BACK!

The lilacs are beautiful. My neighbor has some right outside my own window and is generous in letting me cut my share to bring in the house. I love them. Have a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful lilacs, Claudia. I can tell Don is thrilled to be back in action. Let’s hope it leads to other roles. Is that Chloe protecting your puzzle pieces from anyone who dares to touch them? Her lilac-coloured dress is lovely in its simplicity. Enjoy your weekend. Pamper that hand. Hugs, Elaine

So sorry for your loss, Claudia. It’s doubly hard to lose a beloved link with a lost loved one. For some reason this year I’m really missing my six years gone mom with all the Mother’s Day advertising. Just another reminder of how short and fragile this life is.

That’s great that Don had such a good experience with, hopefully ,more to come. Congrats on the 50th anniversary!

Those lilac pictures are so vivid, I swear I could smell them. Hope your hand feels better soon.

    Take care,
    Kay

Oh, Claudia, so sorry about Jane’s passing. I love the name. Jantje was my oma’s name and we have (had) a couple of Janet’s in the family. My cousin Janet died only a few months ago or so – I miss her so bad my heart hurts. No Janes, though, I wanted to use the name. Mike’s grandma said in no uncertain words we couldn’t name a child Jane (too plain)! Well…
You take the best photos ever. With your writing skills, you should have been a photo-journalist.
Anxiously waiting to hear how Mike’s MRI went. There’s a spot on his liver. We’re both pretty out of sorts. Mike was driving wrong around town and normally that would have been funny. Not today. Please remember us, everyone, first thing Monday for results. Thank you

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
