Lilacs and Pink

May 3, 2025 at 8:42 am by Claudia

I’m still feeling under the weather, so rest is on the agenda for today.

It’s lovely out there right now, but we’re due for thunderstorms this afternoon, with more rain on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

There are a few little garden chores yet to tackle, but they’re relatively minor.

I think I’m repeating what I said yesterday!

Anyway, a couple of photos for you and then I’ll sign off.

Our lilac bush is spectactular this year with more blooms than I’ve seen in a long time. Heavenly. I will visit the bush this morning to get a strong whiff of those flowers before the rain begins.

And since I haven’t posted a photo of any of the girls for a while, here is Mabel.

Spectacularly pretty in pink.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

That fabric looks like Dotted Swiss—a well-loved fabric from my childhood!
I can smell those lilacs if I concentrate very hard, mmmmmm.

So wish spring would hurry up here. SOME of the trees have buds and some of the bushes have some leaves but on the whole this is a very late spring. Woody is out planting beach grass but it is about 40 so I’m inside. I had great plans involving mulch and raking but it will just have to wait.
    Enjoy those lilacs!
    Love ,
    Eileen

Oh, so sorry, Eileen. Our spring is later than normal, as well. But it is finally here. Yours is right around the corner.

      Love you,
      Claudia

Lilacs in white, red-violet, deep purple, bicolor are blooming everywhere. The high schoolers held their annual plant sale today. My veggies from seed are being acclimated to the great outdoors. And I just discovered my neighbor lined her front walk with tulips. So beautiful!

Expecting some more misty rainshowers so I’d better use my allergy eye drops before those pesky pollens get airborne yet again.

My Spring list: I’ll continue to diversify my garden, make sure all plants have an equal chance to grow, and include everything from utilitarian veggies to beautiful blooms. Ha!

Your lilac is looking spectacular. Glad you are laying a bit low. There will be plenty of time to work. Stay well.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
