I’m writing this on Wednesday evening. I’ll be too busy tomorrow to write a post, so here goes.
Short but heavy on the photos. A little miracle on Wednesday – despite the leaves dying on the morning glory, there were beautiful blooms today!
You can see all the wilted and dying leaves – although some of them are just fine.
But there are many buds still left to open and the week ahead is supposed to be warm, so I hope that they thrive.
Also blooming:
Beautiful October roses.
And my stalwart and dependable hollyhock:
I hate to leave them to the elements! I’ve watered the porch plants. I may put a few on the ground outside the porch to catch some rain. Come to think of it, I’d better do that now.
Happy Thursday.

When I looked at the MG’s, I thought of The Little Engine That Could. They look like they are trying so very hard to bloom!! The weather here, too, has been glorious. Sunny and low 70’s is all one could ask for in mid to late October!! Towards the middle of next week it looks as if it will be more “normal” temps ~ down into the 50’s and 60’s for high temps. Inevitable, I guess.
Safe travels and I hope the trip is wonderful. Spending the time with Don is most precious, I am sure. ♡

Wonderful news – the morning glories made it! That color of theirs – that periwinkle blue – has always been a favorite of mine. I read somewhere once that it’s a color EVERYONE can wear too. If you follow that “seasonal color palette” theory for clothes etc [and I do – I’m a Summer] – periwinkle is one of the few colors that has a place in every season [although stronger in some & more pastel-y in others]. A great color for bridesmaids’ dresses I guess – haha! Have a safe trip to New Orleans & please say, “hey guy” to Don. I won’t say “have a great time” because I KNOW you will! How could you NOT in New Orleans? Especially when reunited with your husband? But please have a beignet for me. I just love those things… Peace! ✨

glad you caught those blooms … lovely! hope you find more when you get home.
by now you are hopefully in new orleans and beginning a great adventure! how fun to explore a new city, especially with your love by your side (at least part of the time, though am sure his schedule will keep don busy) … have lots of fun!
agree with others … enjoy beignets! i don’t drink coffee, but love their orange juice, too. and cafe du monde is open 24/7. :) and there is a nice little bookstore down the street (a tisket, a tasket) that sells lots of local books). :)
it’s not big on vegetarian options, but i like a little restaurant close to your hotel … mena’s palace (corner of chartres and iberville) … a “locals” kind of place … my favorite kind. i usually just have toast and grits. :) and there’s a couple used-book stores near mena’s. :)
also, pralines at creole kitchen are so good (where you might be able to sign up for a cooking class).
i will try to look it up, see if it is still in business (hope so) … quarter stitch yarn shop in the quarter. cc (community coffee), cafe d’or, city park and riverwalk, all the artists set up along the fencing (can see from cafe du monde, get to it off royal, lots of ways), jazz at snug harbor, riding on a streetcar, joining a second line if you come across one, sitting by the river watching the barges and boats go by, algiers, lake pontchartrain (and the bridge so low to the water), the architecture, music, people, food …
and ship home boxes of cdm beignet mix and cans of blue runner (brand) creole beans. i think you will all too soon know what it means to miss new orleans! enjoy every minute!

Thought of you and your morning glories and bumble bees yesterday driving home from work and listening to the local public radio station. They were talking about a new study about bees and how they are especially attracted to the color blue. Something about how the light on the blue appears to the bees giving it a “halo effect.” I was distracted by heavy traffic and will have to go listen to it again.

What lovely flowers! Hollyhocks are a special love of mine, but don’t grow well here. Thanks for the treat!

Seemingly always behind the eight ball …
It appears this coming week is full of wet weather for us in here in NH so probably NY too! Unfortunately we need it before snow flies.
I knew your beautiful Hollyhocks ‘Festive Time’ would be more protected than mine, however mine seemed to escape the frost as well! Still blooming, too! IF they do in fact come up against all odds next year I’ve much decided I’ll be adding a bunch more variety within the veggie garden with a fence piece. I might even try my hand at ‘Morning Glories’ …
Best always …

I also plant to plant more than one next year. I’d love to have a whole bunch of them in that side garden bed!
