Lots to Do

May 29, 2018 at 9:31 am by Claudia

The clematis buds are increasing by the day. Last year, there was very little bloom because the boxwoods surrounding the plant were too big and blocked the sunlight. This year, I pruned the boxwood at the very beginning of the season. Lesson learned.

I have a lot to do in the next two days before I leave for the city. Mowing, for sure, though I started in on that last night. Weed whacking. Errands. Get gas for the lawnmower (first up today.)

It’s supposed to rain and storm all weekend – both here and in NYC. Dang it. But what can you do? We’ll just have to deal with it.

The catmint is starting to bloom and as it’s going to hit 86 today, I suspect I’m going to see a lot more purple in the garden.

I spent the afternoon with Rick yesterday, which was, as always, lovely. (And Sam, too.) I’m crazy about that dog. There’s a lot going on at their house: bathrooms being redone, new roof going on, etc., which is all taking longer than expected. Isn’t that always the case with construction?

Okay. Have to go and get a move on!

Happy Tuesday.

Busy day for sure. It is still raining here but the birds are at the feeder now and the plants are growing so I shouldn’t complain.

You do have quite a bit on your plate. Since it’s going to be 90+ here again…my only outdoor work is going to be watering some flowers. The weeds are going to have to wait…fortunately, they are only in the backyard. I’ve been reading up on catmint…sounds like a perfect plant for a few areas I have. Your coleus is gorgeous. Enjoy your day! ;)

It was 86 today and I mowed the entire front lawn and weed whacked, too. I’m tired, but happy I got it done.

      Catmint is great!

Your coleus is so pretty! Don’t you love them? So many sweet combinations make a pot filled with them so very interesting.

We are wishing and hoping for some rain over the next couple of days. Still 90* here today. BUT, the weekend looks spectacular ~ in the high 70’s!!!! Seriously can’t wait and hope it comes true.

Happy mowing. I know you will take a few breaks. Especially in the heat. Have a good Tuesday!

good luck to your friends on their renovations. good luck to getting everything done before your trip and on having little to no rain while you’re traveling to/from/in nyc. no good luck wishes needed for you having a wonderful time with don and meredith; that’s a given!

    thanks for the pretty photos.

maybe it’s my old monitor or maybe it’s my old glasses and eyesight. maybe it’s the garden equivalent of seeing shapes in clouds (it’s not your photos, claudia; they are beautiful) … but i see a little, almost-llama-like head, mouth and ears (and a bigger bottom) in the first photo today. haha.

    happy tuesday-that-feels-like-monday.

I think the ‘little to no rain’ hope isn’t going to happen. Sigh.

I looked at the photo, but I don’t see what you see!!

still hoping it stays dry during your outings … but the best part of a trip is just being with loved ones, isn’t it?!?

it is pouring down rain here right now. much needed and i am home to enjoy it! :) sorry if it comes your way.

about the little llama face … see the three little dark spots on the thin/tapered upper left part of the bloom? two could be tips of his ears, the little horizontal line looks like his mouth and the lighter spot above that is his nose. it’s like he’s looking at the camera, a bit over his left shoulder.

i didn’t see the llama face after zooming in for a close-up … then it looks like one of those crabs with eye-stalks. haha.

We’ve been having sunny weather after a week of overcast and hardly any sun. Though I grew up amidst the fog, I was getting tired of no sun, so I’m fully enjoying it now.

I am providing a link to the Linda Ronstadt article from my local newspaper. I know one of your blog readers is a huge fan but I forgot her name and hope she sees the link here: https://www.sfchronicle.com/music/article/Linda-Ronstadt-back-in-public-eye-and-it-s-not-12948003.php

Enjoy NYC. Your sister will be with you, right?

Shanna, sorry I forgot it was you who was a big LR fan. I didn’t realize LR was living permanently in San Francisco. She lives in a beautiful neighborhood. Robin Williams lived there before he moved across the bay to Tiburon then tragically committed suicide.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
