I have two posts up today. If you’re interested in my book review, just scroll down one post. I’m giving away one of my copies.
I played with the table and Mabel (the Featherweight) yesterday afternoon.
Mabel/table – a nice little rhyme.
My intention is to have a place to display her. If I have a big project going, it will likely end up on the kitchen table, which has a lot of surface space.
I added these. I used glue dots, so I can easily remove them if I look at them one day and think they are too cutesie. And that might be today. They are sort of a signature look for me. What do you think?
I’ll leave it this way for now. Everything is subject to change, however. If I start a project and this drives me nuts, the table will go.
Thanks for all of your great suggestions – you are such a help! So many of them were good and entirely logical, but if you’ve never actually been in this hallway, it’s hard to imagine how difficult it is to maneuver. The hallway itself is fine, but with the addition of the bookcase and the cabinet and needing easy access to the bathroom, bedroom and guest room/office/study, I have to be very careful about what I add. It works now. That doesn’t mean, however, that I don’t curse at times when I’m trying to do something.
I cursed a few times yesterday.
I’m thinking it’s time for a solid color skirt around that sewing table. Hmmm. I think I have a job for Mabel.
Happy Wednesday.
I love you Mabel and the table she is on! I have been deligently searching for my own featherweight but have not found one in my price range yet! The search continues!
Blessings
Linda
Looks nice, Claudia.

Mabel looks quite content on your little white table ! She is a beauty :)
Lori
I think it looks quite perfect where it is, and as you said, being portable you can move her when needed.
Hugs,
Meri
Such a pretty machine and the table is adorable! Such a lovey space!
For one, I’d leave those adorable flowers as they are your signature. If you’re like me, things change on a dime around here, sweetpea. Don’t worry. Leave it until you can’t stand it anymore.
xoxo,
Connie
I think you found the perfect solution, Claudia. I hope you and Mabel have lots of good times together!
I love your little corner. Mabel looks very sweet in her new home:)
I’m looking forward to see Mabel’s creations, Claudia. I want to try sewing a few simple little things. At least I’ve dusted off the knitting needles this week!

Hi Claudia. Mabel is beautiful! I have one too. She was my Daddy’s oldest sisters. And it may have been his Mother’s before that. I do all of my quilt piecing on her. She is a fantastic work horse. I hope you will be using yours as well!!!!
XO Kris
Looks nice Claudia! And cursing a few times? Made me chuckle this morning – as I’m finding myself doing it more often these days with my over-stressed self and my over-crowded spaces! Doing it occasionally somehow makes me feel better! LOL ~Deb
Glad to know someone else curses, too, Deb!
Mabel looks gorgeous on that table and I do love the little crochet bits!! Still I can imagine how crowded it might be there. I am so happy she lives with you now! Hugs, Linda
Mabel looks very nice and comfortable on that table in the hall! She begs to be displayed! I love your crocheted flowers on the table too! Like you said, “it’s your signature”! ~xo. Patti
Cute, cute, cute. Perfect. I now get a sense of how teeny that sweet shelf with the doll clothespins and your little lamb. Adorable. I don’t think I could sew there… I’d be too busy oohing and ahhing at everything. Love it.
You go, Mabel!
Brenda
I love Mabel! Your pincushion makes her even cuter!!! :) Happy sewing! xoxo Debbie
That pincushion that I love – made by you! I’ll have to make sure I give you credit in a future post! Thanks, Debbie.
Love Mabel. What a perfect name! I somehow missed the post about the shortened foot cord, but went back and caught up. I think the table looks great with your crochet on there. Good luck with your first project when you get the cord back! Ann
The cord and foot pedal are in the mail and on their way back to me.
Perfect table for Mabel..looks great..
You and Brenda have me totally intrigued with the featherweights! She is sure purty, and we say here in TX. Glad to know I’m not the only one swearing whilst trying to cram too much into a tiny space :)
xo, Andrea
Have you considered displaying Mable on a wall shelf (blue one above) and just pull down to kitchen table or craft table for work.
Featherweights, despite their name, weigh at least 15 pounds and that shelf might not support her. And it’s very narrow. Darn!
Ah! A little Singer Featherweight (Featherlight?) just like my mom’s. I LOVE her machine! It is the one that I always beg to borrow! I love that you named her. I name everything–cars, campers, you know, everything! LOL Nice to see someone else likes to do that too! :)
I think Mabel is just perfect., but a cute skirt would definitely be in order. :)
It looks great, Claudia! I hope it will work out for you!
Mabel/Table reminds me of a saying from camp when someone was caught eating with their elbows on the table.” Mabel Mabel strong and able get your elbows off the table” then the person would have to do a lap around the lunchroom.
I like the table skirt but know how it’s fun to change the look of things.
Leann
Mabel looks great. I have my machine on a small table and it works for me. Unless I decide to sew slip covers someday. I don’t think so. A skirt would be cute!
Yeah you finally got your Featherweight! Mabel looks elegant on the table. She sure is a pretty machine and looks like sshe’s in excellent condition! Do you know how old she is? She’s just too pretty to cover up.
She was made in 1953, Sandy. She’s 59!
