McCoy Monday & Square #8

March 8, 2010 at 7:30 am by Claudia

Hello and welcome to my little Monday homage to McCoy Pottery. Today’s piece is a hanging planter. If you look closely at the left side of the pot, you’ll see a groove going all the way down the side. There are a total of 3 grooves on the planter. A chain or some other kind of holder fit snugly in the grooves and that’s how the planter was hung. I love the leaf pattern on this particular piece. I took a photo of the bottom to show you the McCoy mark. This is the only time I’ve seen it separated – with Mc on one side and Coy on the other.

You can also see where the 3 grooves meet. This little beauty resides on a little shelf in our sideboard – right by the front door – and we keep the key to our clock in it.

On to Square #8:

A vase (McCoy of course) full of lilacs. Hmmm….I wonder what tomorrow’s square will bring?

Claudia, I love your McCoy vase! And that little vase of lilacs is adorable. It’s fun to see what you do with your needlework. I’m loving how it’s all turning out!

Off to clean to replant the yard to get ready for Claudie to come next week. Wish you could be here with us.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

    Hi Claudia,

I love that pot with all the ivy leaves all over it, it would be gorgeous in green, too, wouldn’t it? I do love the buttery yellow color, too.

Your squares are coming along great. Have a great day!

    Hugs,
    Meri

    Happy Monday Claudia Sweetie…
I so adore this piece of McCoy pottery. I do not own a piece myself, but Moma adores it. She has many pieces too.

I have never seen the name split either. I wonder if this was a fluke, or if they did that on all of these pieces. Maybe you have a rare one? Ya never know. I love the ivy design though and I can see why you love it so. Thank you for sharing it with me this morning.

I adore you embroidered piece for today. How precious it is. You are really quite good Claudia. I don’t know if I could do all these stitches. What a beautiful piecework of love you will have when you are finished. I adore it.

Have a beautiful Monday. Back to work. Country hugs sweetie and so much love, Sherry

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
