Mid-Week Snapshots

October 6, 2010 at 10:00 am by Claudia

What’s happening here at MHC?

Lots of painting. Two coats of primer and then at the end of the day yesterday, the first coat of Ivory White. A day spent in paint clothes, with paint in hair – no shower until the evening. Sore back (I have chronic lower back problems) from crouching and contorting my body into strange positions in order to paint the legs and base of the table. Today: another coat of paint (hopefully the last) and then onto a protective coat of something or other.

The fabric pumpkins have been brought out for the season. Hi Scout and Riley. Speaking of Riley:

This is the kind of thing we celebrate lately. Poor baby – as his hips get worse, so do his muscles and sometimes he just can’t make it outside. Practicing patience.

Loving one last surprise burst of blooms from my rose bush. Thank you, thank you.

Endless rain = soggy leaves. Everywhere.  I like crisp, pretty fallen leaves. I don’t like soggy ones. And we have a huge amount of them. Rain? Please stop. I know that sounds strange from someone who was worried about her well going dry just a couple of months ago. Nevertheless, I’m tired of you.

The sun has been teasing us a bit this morning. I’m hopeful.

Having HAD an older dog, Missy, with displasia and two blown knees in the back, I remember how hard the ‘pooping thing’ can be for a pup. Sending positive vibes to Riley for pooping power!

Your table is looking really great, I can relate to the back issues.

Yay for Riley! We dog people understand this kind of elation.

Have a great day and can’t wait to see the table in it’s finished state.

Your table is looking great!!! Hope all the work is worth the back pain, though!!!
Poor Riley. It’s hard when your pet starts failing!!!
Thanks for your sweet comment about our cat.
    Pretty roses. Lucky you!
Ugh! to the soggy leaves. We really could use some of that rain. I don’t think our leaves are going to be so pretty this year. They really haven’t started changing much in the valley. They probably have in the mountains, but we haven’t had time to make that trek lately.

Soggy leaves are easier to rake up…. they don’t blow out of the pile. :-)

    Miss Claudia!
Hope your back is feeling better soon and sending Riley hugs!

I’m sitting here at home with my new pink reading glasses so I can see close-up. I left Heidi (Hi-Ho) a message saying that they give me a Claudia classiness look. If all that I was left with was not being able to see things close up without aid of glasses then I will take that! :D
I’ll know more next week if I’ve lost anymore vision but I’m keeping a positive outlook.

I’ve missed visiting everyone and I hope to be able to spend a little time every other day playing catch-up. I’m only allowed thirty minutes a day to be on the computer (phooey!)but hopefully we can increase the time next week!

Going to go back and look at your photos!

    Sending you hugs!
    Deanna :D

    Claudia,
Love the chaulk board message. I never thought I’d be so obsessed with poo until I had kids. Pups, our other kids count too. I also hate the process of painting, but the result is so worth it. Can’t wait to see the whole thing. LIsa

Awwwww…poor baby…he’s trying. I know what it is like with elderly dogs. Your table is looking really good! I developed a neck problem last summer when I repainted my big hutch. Last for months!!!! It was agony! Ugh! Can you raise the table onto something higher so you don’t have to crouch? Just a thought. The sun is finally coming out here in eastern Ohio! Yay! It’s been a drizzly gloomy couple of days. The days ahead look bright again!

    Yay Riley!

The painted furniture is gorgeous. You are inspiring me to paint a few things mouldering away in my basement.

I kind of like the smell of wet leaves, but hate raking them up!

You are a patient person to paint a table like that- so many nooks & crannies, round spots and places that are hard to reach.

Poor Riley- its hard to watch our dogs get older and more reliant on us to help them with things they used to “take care” of themselves.

    Good Morning Girlfriend,

I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately, hoping you’re doing okay. I’m praying for your mother. Your table is looking amazing, but please take care not to overdo and screw your back up worse. I had to have surgery on mine as I ruptured three disks. It wasn’t fun, and it’s led to extreme arthritis in my back now.

    Love ya’

The table is looking good, Claudia. I’ve decided to paint my breakfast room table, but I don’t know what color yet. I need to come up with a greyish color, and then I need to DO it. ;-)

Hope things are well with you.

Oh Claudia does this all look so very familiar to me! My dining room is set up right now as a permanent painting sight. My dining room table sits crammed into a corner against a wall where I sit in the morning sipping coffee, surrounded by paint cans and such. I am so sick of it but that’s life right now for us. Thanks for coming by my friend. Poor Riley….my Obie has diabetes and has had two bad days this week. He christened our new grout in the kitchen which I scrubbed and scrubbed…keep your fingers crossed! Our precious animals…it’s so hard. Those roses are gorgeous!!

Yay for Riley! I’m celebrating my Maxie being able to go up and down the stairs this week – sometimes I think it’s more mental than physical.

I loved seeing all your photos! That fabric pumpkin is so cute! I wanted to make some this year but there’s just no time – maybe next year.

We could use some of your rain! It’s just gorgeous here but so dry.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
