Over the next couple of days, I’ll share the Christmas decorations in the dollhouses with you. Nothing much has changed, but it’s fun taking pictures every year.
First up: Hummingbird Cottage.
Christmas is celebrated in the den on the second floor. There just isn’t enough room for a tree in the living room. Caroline hasn’t finished yet – there’s still a box of Shiny Brites on the stool.
Downstairs in the living room, a couple of Christmas touches:
Two bottle brush trees on the hearth.
(Note the back of the heads of Lily and Wren in the front door window…I forgot they were there when I took the picture! An interesting look at scale – those little dolls seem so tiny next to the Blythes, but they’re huge in comparison to the dollhouse.)
A wreath hung on the newel post.
I’ve decorated Dove Cottage and Lake Cottage (the vintage house in the den) as well.
As in real life, I don’t do a lot of decorating. In the case of the dollhouses, I make the trees and add a few touches, but I don’t like to spend a lot of money on miniatures I can only use once a year.
I just finished The Twist of a Knife, the book by Anthony Horowitz. I enjoyed it. It’s an easy read and it reminds me of an Agatha Christie mystery. I’m hoping to get an email from the library saying a book I ordered has arrived. Fingers crossed.
We’re getting more snow tomorrow – maybe 3 inches? And then we’ll get some rain. Next week, we might get 5 – 8 inches. Yikes! Of course, that can change, but we just might have a white Christmas.
Happy Birthday to my dear cousin Eileen, who reads this blog. I love you, Eileen.
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.
very sweet, your decorating the dollhouses.
like the blue and white trees shown in earlier post photos, too.
and some snow outside adds to it all. hope you don’t get too much snow. or any ice.
thanks for all you share (especially since i’ve yet to do more Christmas decorating here).
and happy birthday, eileen! hope you have an especially-fun, easy day!
stay safe, everyone.
kathy
Not sure what the blue and white trees were?
Thanks so much, Kathy.
Stay safe.
the blue tree is on a table near a window in your living room
and the white one is (i think) in your den, by a cool old lamp and lots of books. shown in posts last week. i’m just now getting around to mentioning my fondness for them (they remind me of my maternal grandparents’ Christmas tree). :)
kathy
Oh, I thought you were talking about a single blue and white tree. That’s why I got confused.
xo
Thank you!
Eileen
Love your doll houses! There is talk that we may get a white Christmas here in Western Washington too. Enjoy your day.
I think we’re definitely going to have one. Several inches tomorrow and several more next week.
Stay safe, Tana.
HummingbirdCottage looks very festive, indeed. It must be fun to decorate in miniature. We’re supposed to get our snow tomorrow into Friday so we are running errands today. First stop is an indoor farmer’s market for spicy Autumn Chutney and delicious fruitcake. Enjoy your day everyone. Hugs, Elaine
Same here. And then more next week!
Stay safe, Elaine.
Always fun to see the Christmas decor in the dollhouses. Looks like a lot of us may get a white Christmas this year….fingers crossed!
Happy Birthday Eileen! ;)
I think, unless there’s a huge change in the forecast, we’ll have one. 5- 8 inches a couple of days before Christmas.
Stay safe, Donnamae.
Thank you!
I love the decor of your dollhouses…and the tiny Shiny Brite box! Amazing! Love the wreath! I decorated more simply this year, too…the favorites here and there! A white Christmas sounds pretty, but cold…stay warm!
It’s very cold today and will be tomorrow as well.
Thanks, Barrie.
Stay safe.
I LOVE to see your dollhouses!! Thank you for a peek at the Christmasy Hummingbird Cottage!!
You’re very welcome, Jenny!
Stay safe.
Hummingbird Cottage looks so cute! I really enjoy the pictures. Your “big” tree is pretty too.
Thank you, Lynda.
Stay safe.
Love your dollhouse Christmas decorating. I stumbled on a facebook group called ‘Dollhouse Miniatures made from everyday things.’
I don’t know if you spend any time on FB, but I have found this group fascinating, and I haven’t even made anything miniature…yet.
No snow in W Michigan yet, it’s been above freezing and raining today. I just want some snow flurries on Christmas Eve and maybe a dusting of white then it can go away. That won’t happen though, sowe should get the shovels out.
Take care
We’re clearly going to have a lot of snow in December, which isn’t usually the case!
Stay safe, Marilyn.
What a coincidence, you show your miniatures and I got lucky and found a miniature dollhouse for sale on FB Marketplace yesterday. I am so excited! It is a Craftsman Bungalow in perfect condition and I got it for a steal! I can’t wait to start decorating it. When we picked it up Bill said “Merry Christmas!”
Couldn’t have asked for a better present. Stay warm!
Yay! Very happy for you. Have fun, Deb!
Stay safe.
Luv-luv-luv seeing your decorated-for-Christmas doll houses always; just let me live in one.
And a white Christmas? Lovely. Perfect!
Thanks so much, Vicki.
Stay safe.
dear Claudia/Don — good to see your dollhouses, like alot!! we are anticipating VERY cold temps next week – just in time for holidays — maybe some snow too! hope you all stay healthy and safe
Thank you, Linda. You, too!
Stay safe.
Thank you for the birthday shoutout! We took a quick trip up to East Jordan (north of Traverse City) to deliver some wool to a fiber mill, had a great lunch out, and went through a few antique shops. Now we wait for freezing rain and snow.
Love you too,
Eileen
Sounds like you and Woody had a lovely day together.
We are now bracing for the same weather.
Love you and miss you, Eileen!
I can’t wait to see the rest of the doll houses with halls decked! These are charming photos (and yes, very like you!) I love all the details, Claudia. Who wouldn’t want to spend Christmas in these rooms?
I’m glad the Horowitz didn’t disappoint. I’m reading one from the British Library Classic Crime Series set at Christmas and having a terrible time finding the time to read!
Happy (belated) birthday to Cousin Eileen. We’re expecting snow, too — and a big temp drop.
Eileen lives in northern Michigan, Jeanie – on Lake Michigan.
You’ll like the Horowitz – it’s a fun and easy read.
Stay safe.
