I woke up this morning and immediately went into worry mode. The nor’easter will begin to hit our area today and it will go on through Wednesday. Frankly, it sounds horrendous. Our little area of the Hudson Valley has predictions of 8 – 16 inches of heavy, wet snow. I worry about our trees and the power lines. We stocked up on big bottles of water yesterday. If our power goes, so does our well pump. And this is a mammoth storm, so power outages will definitely be occurring. We’ve been pretty lucky so far and I’m crossing my fingers.
I have already told Don that I will not allow him to try to shovel and/or snow blow this stuff. It’s nearly impossible. And heavy, wet snow is dangerous. So, we could be trapped here for the week.
That’s all I’ve got for you today. Say a prayer for us and for everyone in the path of this storm.

W. Michigan got maybe 3 inches of snow last night…heavy wet stuff. I wonder if that is the same storm coming your way? I have mostly stopped watching weather reports when the meteorologist at a local station here started talking about ‘snow events.’ It would just get me more anxious and I am much happier to just get up and look out the window to see what the day brings. Well, I do check a weather app on my phone occasionally, but it doesn’t sensationalize the weather like they seem to on TV. I just see what the radar shows.
It is important to be prepared in case of power loss though. We have a generator now so I don’t worry about that as much.
It is supposed to warm up and rain later in the week so this snow won’t last very long.
Prayers sent that you don’t lose power and you and Don can stay warm and cozy and eat more apple pie. Take care

We got a bit last night — maybe an inch or two but it’s snowing now. Nothing frantic, just gentle, large flakes coming straight down — but steadily. I’d like to think the storm would blow by you but I know that’s probably not likely, so glad to hear you two are laying low. Thinking good thoughts about your power. Hang in.

Thoughts and prayers on their way from Wisconsin. Glad you have decided to “let it be” for a few days in the aftermath. It will melt. Hopefully some apple pie remains. I know you have a pile of TBR books, so with Don singing, and you reading, I have visions of the 2 of you in seclusion for a little bit. Hope the wrens settled upon a nesting site and are just as ready!!
dear Claudia/Don — sure hope this nor’easter will pass you by–not much fun without elec/&/or water –smart move to get some bottled water to have — we have 1 wxman we listen to/watch – if he ever says “I don’t like the way these storms look” we start getting our storm shelter stocked w/snacks/water etc. he has been working for about 25 years which I find incredible b/c he’s only 50 !!! but he is very good, thorough and breaks everything down simply so everybody can understand. pls do not shovel/snowblow any of this stuff–too dangerous for either of you-listen to “the old granny” stay safe/healthy

All you can do is prepare ahead and thank heavens for weather satellites that give us a heads-up.
We’re waiting on another Pineapple Express here. So far, the Sierra rainshadow has protected us from the worst effects.
