Monday Greenery

June 8, 2026 at 9:10 am by Claudia

A few views from around the garden:

The crown vetch, which disappeared for several years after we lost a limb on our maple tree that provided shade, is back for the third year, and there’s more than ever! I’m glad.

The first day lily opened up yesterday. My trusty Stella Doro.

A ladybug nestled in a thistle.

Beardtongue, a wildflower that pops up near the funky patio.

Yarrow.

It’s pretty gorgeous out there – lots of spring wildflowers are popping up like magic. I love seeing them. They’re so strong and often pop up between the pavers or in the gravel.

I mowed the corral and the back forty yesterday. In a few days, we’ll have another round with the front lawn. And so it goes at this time of year.

I used some paste wax on the bedroom floor in the dollhouse. It looks lovely now. But whenever I use it, I have to close off the room and air it out. It’s got a strong smell. I’m considering using it on the stairways at some point in order to give them a richer look.

I think I’ll start painting the walls in the hallways so they’re prepped for wallpapering. I’m also getting ready to wallpaper the kitchen. Wish me luck!

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

I love the resilience of plants: your greenery and wildflowers.

If you left off “in the dollhouse” from that sentence, your last two paragraphs could refer to a human-sized house instead of a miniature! Have fun doing those tasks; afterall, even with frustrations, that’s what it’s all about.

I love walking through your yard. It’s like an adventure! So many different things popping up. Your floor is looking great! Well we got some good news about Gracie, our 12 year old Golden Retriever. We were told 9 months ago that she had tumors on her liver, and she might have 4-6 months left with us. I went in today and wanted them to do another scan to see if anything had changed, because she is still acting fine. He found nothing had changed on her scan! Meaning either the tumors are benign but they had not spread anywhere! Her heart is good but a little overweight from too many treats (our fault!). We are over the moon hearing that good news! I have aged a few years worrying about her. I guess the lesson is never give up hope. You have had dogs so you know what I mean. Have fun doing your dollhouse. Take care!

The vetch is a piece of art, very exotic. I love it. All your flowers are very pretty.
I mowed my backyard today and it makes me so happy and I feel accomplished. Weed pulling also, which I should do everyday.
I finished the new Elizabeth Strout book. I loved it! It broke my heart and it warmed my heart. I did not want it to end.
I do hope your friend is improving.
    Take Care,
    Kaye
P.S. I love to hear booing in NYC

That beardtongue is wonderful. We are finally getting some rain this morning. It’s long overdue and I hope you get some too!

Hi Claudia. The green of June is so lush, it is hard to believe a month ago it was just emerging! Your photos are lovely as always. I look forward to seeing the developments in the Beacon Hill… yay! It is always exciting when the long wished for dreams start to manifest. And yes, enjoy it as much as you can… I get it about the “odors” of some of the products we need to use… ventilation is key.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
