Monday morning, which is just like any other morning nowadays. We have fairly regular conversations starting with “What day is this??” or “I was sure it was Friday, but it’s only Wednesday!”
The light is changing. It doesn’t get light as early as it did even a week ago. There are orangish leaves on the ground. You can feel the seasonal change in the air. The limelight hydrangeas are just beginning to show a little pink. The garden has been so gorgeous this year and I’m not quite ready to give it up, yet I’m looking forward to fall. The Rose of Sharons are spectacular this year and every morning I walk to the kitchen door to see the new blossoms. Heavens, I love them. The coneflowers are fading. It’s fascinating to observe.
I don’t buy new clothes for the girls very often, but I just received two new additions to the group wardrobe.
My friend, Gwen, had a sale of lots of clothing she didn’t need and I got this outfit (it had never been worn) by a designer called DiddyDollyDelights. I pictured Ruby in it as soon as I saw it. Isn’t it darling?
I also bought a dress by Simon Yuen, who lives in China/Hong Kong. He designs these beautifully elaborate ensembles – unlike any I’ve ever seen. I’ve been admiring them for years. So I finally bit the bullet and purchased this one – which I immediately pictured on Miyoshi.

The tiny little buttons and incredible details blow me away. There are also gloves, but I couldn’t quite deal with them when I was about to take this picture.
I was just going to dress her, take the picture, and then change her back into the outfit she had been wearing – but she looks so beautiful that I can’t quite do that yet.
Okay – the dollhouse: I’m wrestling with what bed to use. I have the wrought iron bed, of course, but I’ve used wrought iron beds in three of my dollhouses. I built this bed from a House of Miniatures kit. It’s larger than the other bed, which initially put me off. But now, I’m reconsidering. I posted both beds on IG and the vote was for the wooden bed. What do you think? I can always use the wrought iron bed in another project.

I love Ruby’s dress! The wrought iron bed seems more Victorian or period to me, if that’s a consideration, and this one feels more cottagey, but that’s just me. No matter what you decide, either will be charming!
I’m so NOT ready for fall. Our summer has been not great weatherwise. Not very warm, super windy and very wet. (September is as bad or worse.) I’m looking for 85 degree days with no more wind (a small breeze would be nice.) I feel like we had one, maybe two and no more than three, but probably less, really great days. I do like fall, but not yet.
Whereas we had unbelievably hot weather most of the summer. But I’m not quite ready yet, either.
Period doesn’t mean a great deal to me as I’m an eclectic decorator. Thanks so much, Jeanie.

I work hard at being sure which day we are on! They blend together sometimes which is a dangerous feeling… the slippery slope!
The girls look Fabulous this morning! Ruby has such a swagger in that outfit. And Myoshi looks like an avenging Valkyrie… better stay on her good side! :):) I am glad they have some new clothes … isn’t it a back to school tradition? Yes, Fall is in the air… it makes me melancholy but at the same time relieved to see the too hot days waning. I hope to get some garden work done in September.
As for the Bed question, I think the wooden one is perfect! Yes, it is large, (the little secret of all these dollhouse kits is that there is not enough room in the rooms for furniture! Lol!) but I think it could be the statement piece…. it is a bedroom after all…. glorious bedding could really be beautiful. I have a love for four poster beds…. with the “curtain rails” but not the top covering. In my old house I hung beautiful embroidered Indian saris on the rails…. absolutely stunning embroidery and colors, it was like being in a private tent but not too confining since the top was open to the ceiling. My current room is even smaller, so no saris … the walls are close enough! But you get to decide… that’s the fun of miniatures!
I was rummaging in my boxes of stuff the other day – trying to “condense” the storage and came across some treasures from the Guild Fair a few years back that I still hadn’t put anywhere….. out they came at last! (What takes me so long?)

no gardens in change here. no miniature dolls in pretty new dresses or sweet miniature beds here, either. but very similar weather here? yes, we have that and i am 100% ready for it. ready for winter, actually, but i don’t want to wish away time, just want cooler, hopefully rainier, cloudier weather!
anyway, i like what you’re doing there. i love old metal beds (had one for 20-plus years), but i very much like the wooden four-poster bed there in the photo and would vote for that one in the beacon hill. either one, you’ll make it look great. glad you’re enjoying the process.

I wish it were fall around here. High 80’s are predicted for most of the week with humidity…bummer. Lots of watering too, as our predicted storms never really materialized over the weekend. So, it’s back to sprinkling the garden beds.

I like the idea of curtains on the wooden bed….the tops of the post look a bit abrupt as they are in the picture. And would you paint it or finish the wood somehow?
After several really pretty nice days we are now back to very humid/90s and it looks like it will be that way for a while, so the idea of fall is very attractive! I’m trying to remove lots of invasive vines and bamboo (none of which we planted!) from the garden so cooler weather would be great; today I went out and got hot and sweaty twice and really don’t have much progress to show for it.

No curtains will be on the bed, Ceci. It’s not my thing – heck, I don’t even use curtains on the windows, in miniature or in real-life!
I’m not sure how I’ll finish it yet.

I’ve heard geese overhead, we’re losing daylight rapidly, nights are cooler and chrysanthemum buds have appeared. I’m motivated (finally) to complete some projects before the weather halts me in my tracks.
Almost time to outfit my dollies for autumn.
