I finally got some sleep last night. The past two days were really hard to get through. It rained yesterday and it’s very foggy today but I heard the peepers again last night. It’s so charming, they peep and the bullfrog responds. So we hear high notes and very low notes and it’s magical.

On the left, from Cottage Ware in England, a little house.
An egg cup with its own saucer that I found at the flea market in Paris.
From my friend Mary in England. It’s from Devon and it’s called Devon Ware. I love this one so much!

On the right, two very old egg cups marked Germany. Bluebirds. I love anything with a bluebird so I snapped these up.
On the left, my most expensive egg cup – but really, it’s priceless. Don bought it for me in Paris. It’s tiny and quite beautiful. Very Art Nouveau in design.
There are more figurals coming but I have to take some photos this weekend. Because I’ve done these tours so many times, some photos have repeats of cups I’ve already shown, so I’m going to sort through what I have and haven’t shown.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

happy to see more egg-cups! :) no slight intended about the others (because they’re all sweet), but my favorites today are the egg-cup don bought for you in paris and the two with bluebirds. glad you have them all and don. :)
also glad you slept better and could hear the peepers and bullfrog.
yesterday it reached 80 degrees here and today it’s supposed to be 91. lots of people will love it. i think it’s too much too soon and will enjoy much more the low-50s forecast for next week. oh, well. we get what we get, don’t we?
hope you, don and everyone else have a lovely weekend. stay safe.

80 degrees is too warm! I agree. Too much, too soon.
Stay safe, Kathy.
I enjoy the egg cup tour and appreciate that you have smaller themes within the larger collection (bluebirds, figurals, etc) and the singletons that stand out (silver one from Paris). I also appreciate the memories you have associated with each of them. A fun tour for sure.
Aw, thank you, Wendy. That’s so good to hear.
Stay safe and have a lovely weekend.
That Art Nouveau s fantastic! Let’s hear it for the birds and frogs!
Thanks so much, Jeanie.
Stay safe.

Hi Claudia! I think it is a good thing to have a “visit” to your egg-cup collection each year. Otherwise they might just languish unnoticed in the cabinet forever more. It can be so easy sometimes to just keep adding “one more” of whatever it is to the pile, or the shelf, and never really go back to enjoy them as individual treasures. I am at the stage of trying to reduce the extra… clean out the corners, lighten the load… and yet, sometimes going through things just reminds me of why I have them in the first place… they hold memories and I am not good at letting go! Still… I do need to keep whittling down the excess. Some people claim the point of cleaning out is just to make room for new treasures….. but then, some of us run out of room! I do enjoy your egg-cup viewing and being reminded of the stories. I remember eating soft boiled eggs for breakfast regularly as a child. It was quite the skill to cut the egg open and scoop out the egg without getting shell bits in the egg! We stirred in bits of toast… but I don’t seem to remember if we ever used real egg-cups! (Might have just used dessert bowls or tea cups…)…. thanks for the memories!
I believe I ate soft boiled eggs in the egg cup that my godparents gave me. Vague memory.
Thanks so much.
Stay safe, Betsy.
Oh, I so love the bluebird egg cups and the ones with their own saucers too. Now I am craving a soft boiled egg with soldiers !!!
Thank you so much, Dawn.
