More Star of Bethlehem flowers have emerged from under the hosta. Gosh I love these beauties, who seem to come and go very quickly every year. So, I must appreciate them while I can!
More mowing yesterday. Don got a flat tire, which resulted in the purchase of two new tires for the CR-V.
I have to go to Hartford today. I’m watching a preview of Anastasia tonight and attending tomorrow afternoon’s rehearsal. So I’ll either be back tomorrow evening or Saturday – I’m not sure yet.
Which means I have to make this short as I just found out about this change in my schedule late last night.
Ah, life in the theater!
Buttercups on the edge of the lawn. They make me smile. Side note: I played Little Buttercup in H.M.S. Pinafore when I was in junior high school.
Sorry to make this so short, but I have a lot to do before I leave!
Happy Thursday.

Flowers make me smile. Safe journeys and enjoy your time in Hartford.
Claudia says
Thank you, Deb.
Vera says
Safe travels and enjoy the play. Our Star of Bethlehem are gorgeous this year and they spread an amazing amount – yay!!
Claudia says
Mine haven’t really spread but I think that’s because they are in a smallish garden bed.
kathy says
travel safe. the play and work sound fun. but first, good luck with your “to do” list.
drats about the flat tire, but hooray for those plants (your photos are beautiful, too).

Thanks, Kathy. Not happy about having to buy two new tears, but grateful it happened close to home and not on the Interstate.
Monica says
Your hostas are really gorgeous. The deer enjoy ours every single year.
Have a safe trip.
Monica
Claudia says
I haven’t really had too much deer involvement with the hostas – though the ones over by the shed have been chomped on in the past.
Sue says
Have a safe annd enjoyable trip!
Your garden beds are beautiful as always.
Claudia says
Thank you, Sue!
Linda @ A La Carte says
Pretty flowers. Changes! Enjoy your quick trip to Hartford. It’s raining here again and I’m stressing about Mom’s move on Saturday. I’ll be glad when this is over.
hugs,
Linda
Claudia says
I hope the move goes well, Linda. Try not to get too stressed. In the end, you can’t control the weather. I’m sure it will all go smoothly.
Doris says
this year my front yard has a lot of buttercups and while my neighbors are using to many chemicals to keep their grass green, I am admiring the pretty yellow flowers. Ha Enjoy Hartford!
Claudia says
We don’t use chemicals anywhere here – not on the grass and not in the gardens. I love the buttercups!
Chris K in Wisconsin says
Safe travels. Hope it is a productive trip.
By the time you return, the gardens will have morphed into the next stage. Always something new at this time of the year!!
Claudia says
You’re not kidding. Every day brings changes!
Donnamae says
I love how the flowers complement the hostas…gorgeous! Safe travels….and enjoy your time in Hartford! ;)
Claudia says
I do, too. I love that they poke through the spaces between the hosta leaves.
Nancy Blue Moon says
For a minute I thought the flowers were growing from the Hostas..I was going to ask you what kind of Hosta it was..lol..Have a safe trip and enjoy watching the play!
Claudia says
Thanks, Nancy. I’m really looking forward to seeing it onstage.
Betsy says
Your hostas seem to have enjoyed all of the rain you’ve received and the Star of Bethlehem flowers are so delicate. So sweet. I hope you have a safe trip and enjoy your time in Hartford.
Blessings,
Betsy
Claudia says
Thank you, Betsy! I’m in the hotel now and will head over to the theater in about an hour.
Janet in Rochester says
Ah, buttercups. When we were little kids, my Dad made us hold buttercups under our chins on picnics and other times we ate outdoors. He told us it was so we could find out if we liked butter or not – haha. Naturally, we all did [grin]. Did other families do that? Do they still? Have fun in Hartford with ‘Anastasia.’ I just recently watched the Ingrid Bergman-Helen Hayes movie version on TCM. Even if it’s probably not true, it is a really great story… ♔
Claudia says
It would be refreshing if they did still do that because there’s a lovely innocence to the whole thing.
Vicki says
Well, hope you have a good trip! The little cups of butter are so dainty and pretty; I don’t have them here in SoCalif. I do have yellow gladiolas which have a creamy/buttery-yellow look to them.
It’s almost 1pm here (PST) and we’re encased in fog-haze; was still in the 60s at 11am (no worry, it’ll change soon; we’ll get HOT in June if this year is like the last few…).
Claudia says
I remember those foggy mornings. We get them, too!
Melanie says
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Star of Bethlehem flowers! I love how they’re peeking out from under the hostas. Safe travels to and from Hartford – hope you enjoy your time there.
Claudia says
I am. Not enough sleep, but I’ll make up for that tonight!
Patricia says
Your flowers are so pretty… but the hostas! Beautiful…
I say every year I’m going to plant them. I haven’t done it yet!!!
I see yours and want some.
We have plenty of shaded to partial sunny areas that hostas would work so well as beautiful filler. I think I hold off due to my nosey little chickens. They want to dig/scratch where I want to plant them… so, not a good idea.
I saw on Instagram you’re in Hartford already.
enjoy your time there, safe travels and see you when you get back!
Claudia says
Thanks, Patricia!
