I tried to take an early morning photo of the bookshelves (I’m running behind and have to get this post up) and much to my surprise, the clip on light is reflected above. It looks rather like a flying saucer, doesn’t it?
Who knows how many aliens are hanging out here at the cottage?
Sleep deprived. Nevertheless, I’m up and about to hop in the shower and then it’s on to NYC for a meeting at 10 am. It’s supposed to rain and storm today – not the best weather in which to walk about 14 blocks. Ah, well. That’s life.
I’ve just finished The Hanging Girl and have started on Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. I’ve posted a review of The Hanging Girl on Just Let Me Finish This Page.
Sorry for the brevity of this post, but I’ve got to fly.
Happy Thursday.
Enjoy your day in NYC even with the rain! Love the photo, its sort of a ‘snapshot’ of things you love…books, McCoy potter, egg cups and aliens? I’m enjoying time with my oldest girl today and also celebrating Mr Charlies 17th. He is getting to be a very old kitty but so far hanging in there!
Off to see Miss Rosemary and get some more Grandma loves!
hugs,
Linda
Happy Birthday to Charlie! Our babies are very close in age, aren’t they? Scout will be 17 in January.
Hope you enjoy your day in the city in spite of the rain. I’ll be very interested to know what you think of Station Eleven!
I’m only a bit of the way in, but I like it so far, Debbie.
Have a good Day Claudia ! Look forward to reading a review of The Hanging Girl and reading your thoughts on Station Eleven.
I’ll write about Station Eleven when I finish it, Regina Anne. So far, I’m very engaged with the story.
Have a safe and good day. Doris
Thank you, Doris!
Your little Sealyham terrier has his eye on that flying saucer, so fear not! I have a soft spot for terriers, as you may remember. My bookshelves are protected by a small army of wirehaired foxies.
p.s. I envy your day in the city. Enjoy!
“Your little Sealyham terrier has his eye on that flying saucer, so fear not!”
Love this observation.
All business, running to the meeting, running to catch the bus. Truly, it wasn’t at all exciting.
He may have barked at it for all I know!
Safe travels, Claudia!
Thank you, Debbie!
I’m kind of loving the alien presence! Have a good day! ;)
Sort of cool, isn’t it?
Have a good, safe trip. Hope you can take some photos for us if you have time and you’re not under an umbrella. Me? I’m staying under air conditioning; I’ve become more weather-obsessed than my ‘usual’ in our monster SoCal heatwave this week. Waking up to 80s before the sun’s even out is disturbing.
No time for any photos. Today was all business and with the bus running late, I had no time to dawdle once I got in the city.
I thought something was amiss with my computer when I saw the UFO. Funny what we don’t see through our eyes, and find through a camera lens!
Safe travels today! I’m sure walking the 14 blocks on a nice day is completely different than trying to navigate with the addition of many umbrellas to add to the mix. Probably would be a fun picture from a 2nd or 3rd story window on a day like today, with the umbrellas looking like a patchwork quilt of sorts from above.
Hope your meeting goes well and the rain doesn’t slow you up too much!!
A gray day with rain off and on, but I wasn’t caught in a big storm, so that was good!
“New York – even beautiful when wet…” True, it’s not so much fun to navigate in wet, but we take the good with the bad. Will you be anywhere near the memorial at Ground Zero? I’m sure it’s extra solemn, and extra beautiful, today.
No, I was up near 56th and 8th. No time to do anything but get there, get to the meeting, and get back home.
Good morning, Claudia. I hope that you’ll post to Instagram today so that we can follow your trip vicariously. You find such intriguing things to photograph. I remember your sidewalk series of pedestrians’ feet.
I am going to pull weeds in the rain today. Gardening in the rain is preferable to the 93 to 95 degrees that we’ve had all week.
Have an interesting day!
On days like this one, when I go into the city specifically for work and then have to turn around and go back home again, there isn’t any time for photos. I had to speed walk 14 blocks because the bus was late, attend a three hour meeting, grab some lunch to go, speed walk 14 blocks again, and catch the bus. I just now got home! Since I’ve been awake since 4 am….I’m tired!
I’m sorry to hear that you had such a stressful day, Claudia.
Not really stressful. Just the way it is when you have to commute to Manhattan!
At least a person doesn’t have to shovel rain – we had snow here earlier this month. :(
New York City for the day sounds very exciting.
I would like to know more about the production you’ll be working on.
Have a great day in the city!
It’s just a one man show that is currently in development. Those of us who are going to be working on it at some point were invited to a reading to give feed back. The same thing will happen next week.
I would take New York City in the rain any day compared to grocery shopping in the rain..lol..Have a nice day in spite of the rain Claudia…
Rain in NYC, unless it’s in the movies, isn’t very fun! Lots of people with umbrellas knocking into you. Lots of cars splashing through puddles….
Have a great day and travel safe dear friend.
Judy
Thank you, Judy.
You have such a lovely blog. The fact that you make the effort to write every day is inspiring and I love hearing about Scout and what you’re reading. I very much enjoyed Station 11, I hope you do too!
Thank you for your kind words, Caroline. I’m very much enjoying Station Eleven so far.
