On the Road Again

July 29, 2013 at 7:39 am by Claudia

morningbackforty

I walked around the property a couple of days ago. It was a gorgeous early morning on one of the few humidity-less days we’ve had this summer. I wanted to capture the grass, the trees and the gardens so that I could take them with me as I head for Hartford. Then I sat on the bench and cried.

Silly, I know. I should be used to it by now. This time seems especially tough, however. We’re going to try to swing things so that I can come home for a couple of days every week or so but I also know that is entirely dependent on the rehearsal schedule. Don’s home. He’ll take over. If work comes for him that necessitates a lot of time away, he’ll bring Scoutie to me.

My girl. She’ll be confused again. Too much coming and going. I feel like I’ve  just finished getting her settled down and in a routine and that wasn’t easy because she was missing Don. Now it will happen all over again.

Anyway, here I sit, blogging away. As soon as I finish this post, I’ll be moving around the cottage, grabbing last minute things to pack, checking and re-checking lists, taking one last walk in the garden. It’s a foggy, misty morning, we’ve had some rain the last couple of days.

I’ll see you on the other side.

Happy Monday.

    Claudia,
Wishing you a safe journey to Hartford. Before you know it, it will be time to return home.
On another note, I like your new water mark. It’s much more creative and reflective of your blog.

Claudia, I feel for you in needing to leave your lovely home once again. I hope you’ll find the work to be a joy and that you will be able to get home often. All I can offer, which I’m sure you know, is to stay in the moment and take one day at a time. Sending good thoughts your way. Becky

    Claudia,
I know it is hard to leave ‘Scoutie’ and Don but hopefully, you’ll be able to come home often to visit.
You have such a wonderful home life and are very blessed to have work. It’s always a double edged sword?! Funny how life is…
Do you get to ‘SKYPE’ with Don and Scout while you’re away?
I hope the time goes quickly and you can be back home with your family.

I have no idea what that is like. I’ve only had a few short stays away from home…and didn’t like it at all!
I’d be there with you …sitting on the bench, crying my eyes out. NOT SILLY.
    Just plain heart torn.
Thankful that you and Don both have work– you’ve explained the hardships of having it in your line of work.
So we give thanks, pull up the boot straps…and dry our tears. —hope it goes quickly for you and you’re reunited with your family before you know it dear.

Claudia, Being away from home is a difficult task. My husband was gone for 6 days out of the 7, he/we did this for 9 years.. I often felt like a single mother.
My heart broke every time he had to leave, and was filled with such joy when he returned. I was never so happy when he retired and stayed with us all the time.
Like I mentioned to you before they are never farther than your heart.
I will keep all of you in my prayers.

You have every right to cry Claudia..”be used to it”..I don’t think you could ever get used to it no matter how long you have been doing it..I find that the older I get the more I enjoy just being home..I’ve done plenty of moving and traveling and starting over in life..now I feel most comfortable at home..Maybe that is why you are having such a hard time now..All of us ladies will be here if you need to talk about anything..Sweet little Scout looks so sad in that picture..just think of how joyful she will be when she sees you again..Hugs

I feel so bad for you…the thought that you were brought to tears over leaving home. That is so me, I’m a homebody and feel safe, secure and the happiest when I’m at home with my dogs and family. Much like you and Don, my husband and I do most everything together and I’m a fish out of water without him. I guess knowing that doesn’t make things any better for you (!), but please know I’m hoping you have a safe trip, fill your free time with doing things you love… that make you happy and content and that you can get home as much as possible. It will just be all the more sweeter.

    Sending a big hug.

    XO,
    Jane

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
