Let’s see…what’s happening? Don used our neighbor’s snowblower yesterday and it worked just fine on our driveway. Then he took it back to their property and proceeded to snowblow their driveway and it promptly stopped working. Since there was so much sleet mixed in with the snow, there were chunks of ice “like bricks” between the blades. Don cleared all of that out. The engine runs perfectly. But the blades won’t turn. He went back later and tried it again. Still didn’t work. So he called our neighbor to explain what happened. Of course, Don feels guilty, but he didn’t do anything wrong. It just happened. We’ve offered to pay for repair or a new snowblower. Meanwhile, our snowblower doesn’t work. Crap.
One of my Instagram accounts has been hacked, I think. It’s the one I use for books and reading and I don’t use it all that much, but it’s a pain in the tush. I keep getting a ‘challenge required’ message which means they want to verify your identity. Normally, that would mean an email would be sent to me, but I’ve received no emails. And that makes me think they’re sending them to another address – like that of a hacker. I’ve tried contacting IG support, but who knows if they’ll respond? Is it worth it to start another account? I’m not sure. I have two-way verification turned on for my main account and foolishly thought that meant the other two accounts would have it, as well. Nope. So I turned it on for Sophieandherpals. And now, I’ll just watch the other account and wait.
And, of course, there’s Ukraine, which I can’t get out of my mind. Nor should I.
Anyway. I should get my egg cups back today. These sad little empty cubbies will have residents again. UPS delayed delivery until today and made that decision ahead of the storm.
Don just slipped on the ice and hurt his shoulder. He insisted on going to recycle anyway.
I hope he’s okay.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.
That is terrible abut yours and the neighbors snow blower. The problem you are having (with neighbors) sounds like one that happened to me. There are sheer bolts that can be broken especially when ice chunks (we call them ice rocks in the mountains) are involved. If this is the problem it is an easy fix. Google the brand of Snow blower..and check it out. But, then what do I know? This is probably nonsense..it could be a number of things.
I hope your eggs cups arrive and are safely back where they belong.
My heart breaks for Ukraine. I have nothing but contempt for the Americans who are praising Putin.
I hope Don is okay.
Take Care,
Kaye

Don checked the shear pins yesterday and they’re fine. So we’re not sure what is wrong with it.
Don’s in a lot of pain, so we’re putting ice packs on it and I’m making him take it easy.
Thanks, Kaye.
Stay safe.
When I lived in Michigan I had to walk across an icy parking lot where I worked. I purchased some slip on cleats Fromm LL Bean that would stretch over my shoes or boots. The best purchase, ever! I have purchased many pairs of these as gifts for friends and family and they’re still only around $30.
We have those, but Don will never wear them! What can you do?
Stay safe, Suzanne.
ugh. sorry about the pains and hassles. praying for everyone to have safety, good health, happiness …
…
no big changes here yet, but working on them. not fun, but worth it as steps toward feeling better and having more ease in my life.
i am gone at least twelve hours a day and after a shower and quick dinner, i am tired, tend to fall asleep with the lights on and some of my “to do” list undone … that includes stopping here for a chat. i read what you all write and hope and pray for you all.
thanks to you all for providing kind words of support, prayers, inspiration. those things and you are much appreciated.
here’s to better days ahead for everyone!
kathy in iowa
We’re thinking of you, Kathy.
Stay safe.
I am so upset about Ukraine.
All I can do is pray
Life’s little bumps right now seem so insignificant
Yes, it’s all relative, but Don’s shoulder is so painful I don’t think he can get any perspective now.
Stay safe, Linda.
Maybe if the pain in Don`s shoulder doesn’t get better you can take him to an urgent care clinic.
Gosh it is always something
Hope it gets better
He doesn’t want to see anyone, but I reserved the right to take him to the doctor if it doesn’t get better.
Stay safe, Linda.
I hope Don’s shoulder is OK. It’s an awful Feeling to borrow something and have it get damaged in your care. Visiting friends in France, I slept on vintage if not antique sheets, fine and thin as tissue. They chose a nice day to shred into filiments. I do not have the opportunity to replace them and I thought I could buy some online when I got home. Even on European websites, I could not find sheets that fit French mattresses. This was about a decade ago it might be easier today. I have felt terrible all these years. Reminds me maybe I should look. Hope your girls are staying warm.
Yes, it’s frustrating because Don didn’t do anything wrong and it was working just fine and then it wasn’t.
I went over there today to try to shovel and I did clear a bit, but I have back and neck problems, so I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow it will be warmer. I hope some of the snow melts so they can pull in their drive.
Stay safe, Nora.
Oh man, you’re having one of those days.
I sure hope Don will be okay. My cousin in Dallas was just emailing to say how perilous (his words) the ice has been, like when he has to let out his little dog to pee; has to be (he, the human) so careful not to fall.
My neighbor borrowed our perfectly-fine, ‘industrial-strength’ tiller, broke it, returned it, didn’t offer to do anything, just said in a note where the broken heap sat where she left it in stealth, “Here are the broken pins.” Nice. Diff is, you guys had the good manners to offer to pay, even though it wasn’t even Don’s fault.
Is the i/gram account I just looked at last night, where you ‘toured’ us the doll house, okay? I had enjoyed clicking on the box to the right of your page here; listening to it, seeing the tour. Was fun to hear your voice! You have that perfect diction of course; the trained voice. (Your profession!) Like how perfectly actress Helen Hunt finishes her words; kinda like Jane Fonda, too.
Don is in pain and we’re putting ice packs on his shoulder.
The main instagram account is fine. It’s my smaller one – started when I had the book blog.
Thanks so much, Vicki.
Stay safe.
Some days seem like a do over would be good. Hope the snow blower gets fixed and that Don is ok. Ukraine has me very upset and on edge. Trying to find other things to think about.
This was definitely a day that could use a do over, Linda.
Stay safe.
I feel for you and Don. Life can be challenging…a pain in the tush indeed. Sending good thoughts your way.
Thank you, Roxie!
Stay safe.
I pray that Don is okay.
Thank you, Jenny.
Stay safe.
Sorry to hear of Don’s injury, I hope he feels better. Take care, Jen
Thank you, Jen.
Stay safe.
Oh, no, to Don’s fall. Oh, how I hate ice. Snow at least affords one a bit of traction. I hope he is feeling better. Ibuprofen will be his friend for a few days, I’m sure.
There just isn’t a lot to smile about. I have so much admiration for the Ukranian people. I listened to an interview yesterday where a man in a village said they need knee pads for being able to better lie in the fields to defend their land. I sobbed. I also don’t want to watch interviews where people in their SUVs are complaining about gas going up 4 cents. Of course it sucks, but, seriously, people, do you need knee pads to defend your property????? Take care.
I hate ice so much and we’ve had a lot of it this year. I wonder whether this will be the new normal with climate change.
People in this country drive me nuts. They’re such pathetic complainers and it’s so obvious in contrast to what we see the people of Ukraine doing.
Stay safe, Chris.
Sorry you are having such a hard time. Things are not great in our house either. But tiny things cheer me up, and I thought this might make you smile: https://www.etsy.com/listing/721255569/dollhouse-miniature-hand-shaped-wall-art?click_key=82c83602eebd64cceb28453b771e8aadfb7ad64b%3A721255569&click_sum=e374b44b&ref=shop_home_active_610&sts=1
We have that! It’s on the wall in Don’s mini music studio! I’ll take a picture of it for a future post.
Thanks so much, Bridget.
Stay safe.
Sorry to hear about Don. Hope he did not injure it too bad. I have been glued to the TV about Ukraine. It is just beyond sad. That man is pure evil. We need to send a lot of prayers. Stay safe.
He is evil. Somebody needs to stage a coup.
Stay safe, Deb.
Hi Claudia, so sorry Don fell, I hope his shoulder is feeling better soon!
I was mentioning to Chuck about your neighbours snow blower. His first thought was the shear pin but you mentioned Don checked that. Did you check the belt?
Hope your egg cups show up soon.❤️
Don doesn’t know how to do that right now and he couldn’t anyway with his shoulder injury. I’m sure Bill, our neighbor, will check that when he gets home. Thanks so much for the advice, Robin.
Stay safe.
