Pretty new things

March 18, 2009 at 12:24 pm by Claudia

I found this necklace at Vignettes last week. This particular artist takes old watches and adds a letter under the crystal. Hanging below is an old watch face and a crown. I think it is lovely. And the chain is long, which I really like.

I also found this sweet piece at my friend Joy’s booth at Vignettes. Since I dream of going to Paris, I thought wearing a reminder of my dream would be a great idea!

School is back in session, students are restless because the end is in sight, there are still lots of things I need to cover in class – you get the picture. I can’t believe the semester has gone so quickly. Must get to work correcting some transcriptions! Have a great day!

Where I teach

March 16, 2009 at 9:16 pm by Claudia

I thought I’d share a few photos of the University Campus – very near my office window. This is where I taught for 8 years and where I have returned to teach this semester. The University of San Diego is situated on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay. Its very pretty and the buildings are all designed in the same style. No ivy covered walls here. I used to live down the street from Harvard and I think I prefer that look – but it is very beautiful here and nicely landscaped. The above photo is the view I have as I walk toward my office. The building at the very back is the Studio Theater and it also functions as a classroom space.

This is one of the many archways running between classroom buildings. I think it is especially lovely.

One of the many stone benches scattered thoughout the courtyard.

The Studio Theater – this theater is for the MFA student productions. They also perform on the stages of The Old Globe which is in another part of town.

This is the courtyard very near my office. It certainly is a nice place in which to work, isn’t it?

A view down the main road of the University.

There’s more to the campus, of course, but this is my little area. This is where I spend most of my time during the week. But only for 3 more weeks. Then classes end, and everything moves over to The Old Globe and the Summer Rep. Hope you liked our little visit to campus!

Things I like on a Sunday morning

March 15, 2009 at 1:00 pm by Claudia

Sitting on the sofa with a cup of French Roast ~ reading a wonderful novel. Hearing the birds singing away outside and realizing that their ever-present song will be coming back to my home in New York very soon. Watching the cloudy morning skies give over to glorious sunshine.

Gazing at the beautiful roses I bought at Trader Joes the other day. They are tiny, in different shades of pink and cream that delicately color the buds ~ they look like candy.

My Trader Joes tote ~ aren’t the colors wonderful? So cheerful ~ the graphics are splendid.

My “Knitting Muse” ~ my sister has one like this and I admired it on my last trip to Florida. When Don was here, we explored a little shop here called Grove that has all my favorite things: books, fabric, yarn, paintings, clothing, jewelry. I remarked that if I was going to open a shop, Grove would be exactly what I’d go for. I bought some earrings, some Amy Butler fabric, and at the register I saw this! Meant to be. Now if I could just get knitting again, all would be perfect.

I hope your Sunday is a good one. I have some work to do at the computer for school. I also am attending a matinee of a musical, Working, currently playing at the Globe. I did a little dialect work with two of the actors and both of my current downstairs neighbors are in it.

More later.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
