One of my favorites – the tiger lily – is everywhere in our neck of the woods. I love this group that blooms every year on the front edge of our lawn. As I drive around my neighborhood I see bunches of these beauties everywhere. Mockingbird Hill Cottage came with its very own magical tiger lily patch. Weren’t we lucky?
Pink Saturday
Happy Pink Saturday to everyone and thank you to Beverly for hosting this event every Saturday. Please stop by her blog to find a list of everyone participating.
This week I am back at Mockingbird Hill Cottage. I’m unpacking, gardening, and just enjoying being with my family. On the first evening I was home I was surprised by a visit from Heidi and her family. They brought a welcome home dinner and dessert. I got the prettiest piece of cake.
Have a wonderful weekend!
How Does My Garden Grow?

I am still adjusting to being home. Lots of unpacking, weeding the garden, time with my husband and dogs. We have had a very, very rainy spring and summer so far and the evidence is everywhere here at Mockingbird Hill Cottage. The grass and trees are an incredibly rich green, the gardens are lush with growth and weeds are everywhere! When we moved here almost 4 years ago, the large garden bed (which has a steep slope) had one bush, and one hosta. That was it. We moved here in August, so I did no planting until the following summer. I could only add a certain amount of plants each summer. Last year I added a few that have spread this summer and I am amazed and thrilled. I thought I would take you on a little tour (with more to come.)
Jacob’s Ladder – Heidi gave me a few cuttings last summer and I remember thinking they weren’t going to make it. Now they are spreading all over under the shade of the Sugar Maple tree.
Bee balm and catmint
Today the Cable Company came and fixed the phone jacks and the modem – all of which had been damaged by the lightning strike. We are fortunate. I saw a news story yesterday about houses that had been hit by lightning and had fire damage. So we are very grateful that we had as little damage as we did.
