It’s A Monday For Sure

June 6, 2022 at 10:02 am by Claudia

I’m running late this morning. I’m going to have to start this day over. So far, I’ve spilled coffee in the bathroom, dumped water on my foot, and I’m rapidly becoming out-of-sorts.

So a reset is in order.

And maybe a primal scream.

Life is a bit tough lately. I’m working through some things, worrying about other things, but at the same time, it’s beautiful outside and I’m grateful.

Note to self: meditate after you finish this post.

Yesterday, I did what I sometimes do to lighten my mood. I dressed a couple of the girls.

My international girls.

Madeleine who is from Spain in a beautiful flowery dress made by LenaLittleDress who lives in Russia. The shoes are from Cora Huang, who lives just one state away in Connecticut.

Also out on the porch with Madeleine – Wren.

Wren, who is from China, is determined to explore the porch and the surrounding property.

Her hat, and overalls are from its.soquiethere, who lives in France. Her top is from moshimoshistudio in England. Olivia (from Spain) was wearing those sneakers when she first arrived at my door. They look pretty cute on Wren.

I do love them all. There’s something almost meditative about choosing clothes for them. And I love to photograph them. They can’t take a bad picture, of course – how I wish the same held true for me!

Okay. I’m going to have some of the coffee my dear husband made for me to replace the cup I spilled.

And I’m going to hit ‘reset.’

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

Slow Sunday

June 5, 2022 at 9:02 am by Claudia

The Farmer’s Market was slow yesterday. They’ve moved it from the charming little street it was on  – where there was a lot of foot traffic – to a parking lot. I suspect the decision had to do with Covid and space and 6 ft between people, etc., but it makes it hard for Don to find anything interesting for a background when he takes his pictures. He did okay, but here’s hoping the crowds increase.

I did some work outside yesterday in the area where the Annabelle hydrangea is and where the rose bush I removed was. I pulled weeds and added some mulch. Then I grabbed the lawnmower and mowed the back forty. It was quite breezy when I was mowing and I felt sort of exhausted and awful afterwards, so I think the pollen flying around hit me hard.

Consequently, I’m tired today and feel sort of foggy and it’s taking me a long time to wake up.

So I’m going to hang out at the cottage today and read. I might rouse myself to wash the sheets and do a little work on the puzzle. I definitely need another cup of coffee, which I’ll make right after I finish this post!

It will be an easy-going Sunday.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

Pansies & Dove Cottage

June 4, 2022 at 8:47 am by Claudia

Nothing prettier than the sunlight shining through a pretty pansy.

It’s Saturday and Don is going to take some photos at the Farmer’s Market today. The first time in over two years! He’s just about to leave and will be back later this afternoon.

I’m going to do a little work outside today; some pruning, some mulching, and some weed pulling.

I bought a new faucet for the sink in the cottage. I never liked the one that came with the sink. It was too tiny and was more like a bathroom faucet. This one is perfect! If you look in the background, you can see a new floor lamp for the living room. I got that a couple of weeks ago.

Finishing touches are happening at Dove Cottage. I mean, there’s a lot of tiny detail I can still add – for example, silverware in the drawers, little bits in the cupboards, etc. But that would be for me and not something you would necessarily see. I need a few more lamps and some details added to the studio and the front entrance, but that’s almost done.

Then…the Beacon Hill. Gulp.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
