Pie, Mulch, Don & A Chipmunk

May 12, 2017 at 9:37 am by Claudia

A sunny, lovely day today, which I will take full advantage of, since Saturday and Sunday will be rainy. I did a lot of weeding and mulching yesterday. There’s still a bit to go but the bulk of it is finished. I think I’ll hold off on potting the impatiens until the weekend and Monday’s winds are over.

Or maybe not. We’ll see.

A big old Julian apple pie arrived via FedEx yesterday. Ordering one to be sent directly to your home on the other side of the country is expensive, as Katheryn mentioned in yesterday’s comments. That’s why we rarely do it. Since Don is working at the moment, we are indulging – just a wee bit.

Also in the box? A T-shirt for me! Red, long-sleeved, with the logo on the front and the back…I love it! Don’s message on the note enclosed with the pie was “Sugar for my baby!”

Ain’t he the cutest?

His show is in previews now and he’s having fun. First preview was full of Jimmy Buffett fans and that made all the difference. They get the jokes, they sing along, it’s a great evening for all.

The leaves on the sugar maple.

And the forget-me-nots are getting ready to bloom.

Finally, for yours truly, there’s not much that’s cuter than a chipmunk. This little chippie has been seen in the back forty, on the porch, in the area behind the kitchen – always busy – and yesterday I saw him in the memorial garden, so I took some pictures of him.

Some adorable cuteness for your Friday.

Happy Friday.

Chipmunks are so cute! We don’t have them around our house, only squirrels. I have seen them in the area.
Enjoy the apple pie! I remember my mom liked hers with a slice of melted cheddar cheese. Actually, you may not want to mess with perfection!

I have heard our weatherman saying that you all will be getting a weather like a Nor’ester. Wet and rainy here until tomorrow.

    Your Don is so thoughtful.

Chipmunks are full of cuteness. When living up in New Hampshire, I would see them in stonewalls that is so prevalent up there when I would go for my walks. They are among my favorite creatures.

Sounds like it – lots of rain and then winds on Monday. Yuck.

      Thanks, Trina!

I saw a couple of forget-me-nots here, yesterday. There will be tons of them soon if this year is like others. No chipmunks yet, so I’ll content myself with admiring yours, to keep the circus music/news out of my head. Enjoy that pie!

I hope you get all your outdoor chores done, then you can hunker down with pie. Cute chipmunks! None around here, but ground squirrels are pretty cute too. I love how they lay on the grass with their hind legs straight back and soak in the sun.

Yes that little chipmunk is cute…and so is your Don…if more couples were so kind and considerate to each other as you and Don are to each other there would be a lot less divorce in this world…Enjoy that wonderful pie!

And we have begun the trek across the bridge with them to let them live in wooded bliss. We have SO MANY holes in our lawn, it is really disturbing. So the live trap is set out, and they get their ride across the river to join their family members who made the trip the past few years. (And then I dream of them in their little backpacks hiking right back at night.)

Glad you got your weeding and mulching and mowing done. You will probably be ok to have a day or two to rest after all of that!! The news today is beyond belief ~~ over the brink and into another land ~~ or solar system. Seriously.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
