Pink Saturday

August 7, 2009 at 9:51 pm by Claudia

Hello to everyone on this August Pink Saturday! Please stop by How Sweet the Sound, Beverly’s blog, to see a list of everyone participating. Beverly, thank you for all the time you put in to make this event so successful.

How about a little pink and green this week? A trip to the Berkshires, it must be over 11 years ago, led to this little treasure. In a tiny little shop, I came across a hat that I loved and I needed something in which to carry it home on the plane. In another little shop I found this:

A vintage hat box. I fell in love with it. It is covered in the sweetest pink and green pattern. Aren’t those pink flowers beautiful?

This is the lid – the handle is made out of wood and painted green. This hat box sits on a bookshelf by my bed….I wonder what’s inside?

I cannot tell a lie – I forgot these were in the box! I started crocheting some squares with some beautiful Debbie Bliss yarn and promptly forgot about them. Hmmm…I see a little project that needs to be re-started.

Finally, a close-up of my spirea. I am enthralled by intricacy of this bloom. Truly beautiful.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy PS, Claudia! What a lovely hat box! What a fabulous find! Now I want to see what you do with the crochet squares!

Your spirea is lovely. I had those in my garden in Maryland. My bush was called pink princess or something like that. It was lovely too.

Have a fun and safe weekend!

What a pretty hat (yarn) box. I sure hope you’ll share that project with us . . . it looks lovely already!

I love the picture of the spirea bloom . . . they really are a special flower. They look like little ballerinas (it’s like a cloud thing! LOL!)

Thanks for sharing and have a terrific Pink Saturday!

Did you happen to open the box because of Pink Saturday? :-) The box is a beautiful storage box and I like those crochet squares and the colors! You should finish it one day Claudia. I think you’ll have lots of projects ahead for the next season that begs for indoors – your dollhouse and crochet. :-)

Hello Claudia, I have always loved pink and green together. Such a beautiful mix. What a wonderful way to store a hat, that box is beautiful. Don’t you just love it when you forget about something and find it years later? Sometimes that’s a good thing and other times, maybe not so good. In your case I would say it’s great because those crochet squares look so pretty. My grandmother had white spirea and I loved it when it bloomed, Happy Pink Saturday, Char

Hi Claudia, I discovered pink spirea just two years ago. Every fall we buy a few more to plant by the pool. I think this fall we will finally have enough. Yesterday we went to this sale where the lady was selling all of the plants in her yard (don’t ask why…something about a messy divorce). She had some beautiful big pink spireas. I wanted to dig some up to bring home but I knew Bobby G. would balk at having to dig such a big hole. LOL….Your hat box is gorgeous. Happy Belated Pink Saturday and I hope you have a sweet week.
