Porch Time

July 20, 2012 at 7:00 am by Claudia

Thursday was that rare day where all the humidity and storms of Wednesday had blown away, leaving moderate temperatures, a gentle breeze and perfect weather for some family porch time.

Don played the guitar, I read a little. Then I plopped down on the glider and slept for an hour. I got up, traded places with Don and he slept for an hour. That gentle breeze lulled each of us to sleep.

Simple pleasures. With all the unbearable heat we’ve had lately, this particular afternoon was a blessing. Today Don is off to the Berkshires to work on another play. Work is a good thing, but in our line of work, it almost always means separation from our loved ones. With the joy of work comes the sorrow of being away from the family. And with Riley being so frail, it’s especially hard this time.

Have a wonderful Friday.

A well deserved respite ~ I especially like the pic of Don’s guitar on the weathered table. Hoping your weekend is uneventful too.

What a sweet day. Glad for the work. I do know what you mean. I am glad that my husband still has a job but he is gone so much. At least he is home at night. Wouldn’t it be nice if we were all closer and could have some bloggy get togethers to pass those times away. (((((HUGS))))

Aaaahh! A perfect porch day and the four of you made it a special memory. Love the pics Claudia, Riley being serenaded by Don, Scout checking things out, the beautiful flowers………..and knowing you were able to relax and just enjoy your lovely porch.

Perfect Summer days are all too rare. Here in the south we are steaming and sweating (yes, so hot even ladies can’t just perspire – we sweat!), and our flowers have been fried. A nice storm last evening though and, for a few minutes, standing on the porch watching rain pour down and feeling a little coolness was wonderful.

Hope Don won’t be gone to long or too far – the Berkshires are lovely – and that Riley, Scout and you will be OK.

    Love and hugs – Mary

We are getting relief from the heat here, too. It’s wonderful to comfortable outdoors again and your porch is perfect for lollygagging! ~ Maureen

I smiled when I saw Don on that swing. I know how tall he is! Nice to see you guys enjoying the porch. I love to look at your kitchen island every time I visit!

It looks like you all had a lovely afternoon Claudia. The simple times are the times I remember the most.

When you are in the line of work you are in, I know the seperations are hard but it must be lovely when you do have the down time and are together for a few days and can spend them Riley and Scout.

    Have a nice weekend

There is nothing like a nap on the porch! I like that you took turns on the swing. Everything looks so green and pretty there, I wish we could enjoy a little summer rain once in a while. It’s getting kind of dry and crispy around here.
    Enjoy your weekend!

Music can certainly soothe the soul and Riley looks content being there amongst the family. Thinking of you. Your day sounds like a perfect one, for sure.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
