• One other thing about that Norman Rockwell print I shared with you the other day – A big part of the reason we fell in love with it is because it’s centered on ‘show people’ and it points out a truth about any performer, actor, dancer, or singer; offstage they’re just people like everyone else. It’s only under the spotlight that they seem larger than life.
• We got about 4 inches of snow yesterday and last night. Don has already been out to shovel, bless him. I didn’t have to do anything! A nice accumulation, but not overwhelming. And everything out there looks clean again.
• I had two dreams right before I got up. In one, I was staring at some books on top of some tall bookshelves. As I stared at them, they moved and disappeared and I realized I could move things with my mind. In the other, I was staying in a house with several people but I was there alone. I realized the toilet was overflowing with, how do we say it, crap. And I was cleaning it all up with my bare hands. It was undoubtedly influenced by an episode of Will and Grace that we’d seen earlier in the evening. But it was a jarring way to wake up!
• Wanted you to see just how high the ceilings are in the Lake House.
Please excuse the shoddy and temporary wallpaper job. It was done as an experiment and it’s still up!
This is a hard one to photograph because of the dark walls. I always have to lighten things up a bit, plus the light from the big picture window in the den is flooding the room. But see? The ceilings are very high. In contrast, the ceilings in the newest vintage dollhouse are very low. The rooms are 3/4 size, not quite the 1:12 size for most dollhouses. They’ll be a challenge.
I didn’t end up doing any work on the dumpster dollhouse yesterday (also known as the English Cottage.) But I will today.
I hope you’re all tucked in, safe and warm. Some of you are also enjoying a long weekend and isn’t that lovely?
Happy Sunday.

i like your first dream much better than the second one!
you’re doing a great job on the dollhouses, no matter the scale.
glad your snowfall was a manageable amount. even with the hassles it brings, snow sure is beautiful!
i am happy to have the day off work tomorrow, in part because my windshield wiper broke friday night during the snow/ice storm (on the driver’s side, unfortunately). i will be in the “express” line by 6:30 am … because it’s “first come, first served” for those without an appointment to hopefully get it fixed then. hope it’s a quick, easy fix, but either way, i am grateful because it could have been so much worse from that storm. i echo your wish that everyone is safe and warm!
happy sunday.

I hope you were able to get that wiper fixed this morning, Kathy! We’re taking Don’s car in because he’s having muffler problems. Enjoy your day off! xo

Isn’t it nice to see Mother Earth with a nice clean white blanket? So glad we have a snow blower for our long hill of a driveway ; also glad there was no freezing rain after the snow!
Claudia says
A snow blower is a definite plus, Betsy! And finally, a snowfall that didn’t involve freezing rain! Thanks, Betsy.

I live on Long Island and our snow turned to rain . Although we still have a dusting on the grass, the roads were clear by morning. My husband is doing a 5k winter run series so while he ran I walked the beach at Robert Moses. It was cold but glorious. I love all your doll houses!
Claudia says
Thank you, Corinne! I’d love to walk on a beach. It must have been wonderful.

We got home from Texas late last night — and to about eight inches of snow. Maybe a little less but plenty. Thank you, neighbor Frank, for plowing out the drive. I thought TX would be a relief from gray skies and we did get one sunny day (and loads of rain!) Ah, well. I adore the dollhouse and wish I had high ceilings like that at home! Making me smile. And of course when you first showed the Rockwell I KNEW why it spoke to you! Why wouldn’t it?!
Claudia says
You have a good neighbor, Jeanie! (We wish we had those high ceilings as well!) Thank you.
