Potting

April 29, 2024 at 8:37 am by Claudia

The other crabapples have fully bloomed. They’re simply gorgeous.

I see them from the window above the kitchen sink.

I ended up going to the nursery on Saturday. It was crowded, but not too crowded. I had an itch to buy some plants for the porch. I came home and started potting some of them but the wind started kicking up, so I had to stop early. It was so nice to see some flowers!

There is some of the lobelia that I use every year. (I’m nothing if not predictable.) Though, I did add an additional color to the mix.

Today, I’ll start to pot the impatiens. It’s suddenly very warm here – in the mid to high seventies – so everything in the ground is growing by leaps and bounds. We saw our first bunny yesterday. Adorable. The peepers are back – they were resting during the very cold nights we just went through. Two nights ago, it went down below freezing and now we’re having very warm days. Go figure!

My right hand is a bit sore at the moment, so I may not be answering comments. But I’ll definitely read them.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

Lovely flowers, Claudia, those are great colors.
Now that May is coming this week, I can start thinking about getting some flowers into pots around here too! Also, must get out there to weed, weed, weed which my back and hips are not looking forward to (all that bending!)

I just love those delicate crabapple blossoms. The potted lobelia is very pretty, too. It’s so nice to have flowers to add a pop of color. Bet the bunny was cute.

Your crabapples are gorgeous. Spring is such a fun time…the gardens are constantly changing with new growth appearing daily. Love the lobelia, too. Such pretty complimentary colors.

Our resident frog is back on our deck. It’s a second story deck, and I’ve quite honestly tried to rehome him. He pops up in the most unexpected places, and scares the living daylights out of me. But, he keeps coming back…lol. Perhaps it’s time I just accept him, and give him a name?

With your warmer temps, it sounds like a perfect day to do some porch sitting. Enjoy your day! ;)

beautiful flowers. am certain that rabbit was/is adorable to see. can’t say i like being near frogs or toads, but do like to hear them peeping. and there’s probably no design feature i like more than having a window above the kitchen sink. glad you have them all (and that i have two windows above my sink).

hope your hand feels better soon!

we are to have an off-and-on rainy week ahead. i am glad about that (just hoping it doesn’t rain when i get groceries later today) as it brings out so much greenery, all bright and cheery. and provides me with a free car wash (ha).

    happy, safe monday to everyone!

The blue and purple colours are striking. Take care of your hand and enjoy the summery weather. When your hand is better, a painting of the crabapple blossoms would be lovely. Hugs, Elaine

How nice that you can see your beautiful crab apple trees from the kitchen. They don’t last nearly long enough. The Lobelia is very pretty too. We’ll probably wait until May to get to the nursery. It’s still colder here. That’s why I grabbed some pansies at the grocery store. They’re always one of the first things sold out.

    Take care,
    Kay

I use lobelia, too. It’s so fluffy and pretty and bright. I love your planter. I need to get to the nursery this week before I’m back on no hauling or lifting. We had the temps change too and get very warm (though it dropped some after a rain went through yesterday). But the sun is out — I’ll take it!

Exquiite photos—especially that first one. The crabapple blossoms are so photogenic and so is that shiny black ant! Just a perfect shot.

I was thrilled to get some lantana today. I tried it for the first time last year and loved it. I have admired the knock out roses for many years and I found a dwarf knock out rose today. I know I will enjoy that all summer. I am shock about prices in general including plants. The neighborhood is having their yearly yard sale this weekend and I am going to sell some plants along with my neighbors. Neighbors post when they have something to share which is very nice. I hope I find something fun at the yard sale. Saw a picture of someone selling 2 pathos cuttings in a throw away pot for $8.00! She had a whole table of them, the next day the picture said $5.00. I get that plants are expensive but wow. Enjoy your lovely plants!

The colors of the crab apple blooms are exquisite. I hear then saying “spring is here!” I see the ant is happy too.
    Enjoy and Take Care,
    Kaye

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
