Powerful

February 26, 2018 at 8:57 am by Claudia

I arrived at Port Authority Bus Station yesterday, only to see my husband waiting at the gate with a bouquet of flowers. He completely surprised me! (He’s a romantic guy.)We grabbed some lunch and then I left to go meet with my friend’s daughter.

I won’t talk about that meeting with any details as it was precious and private. I will say that it was incredibly moving and powerful and that we both cried. I’m still processing the whole thing. All I know is that I am grateful beyond words for our meeting yesterday and our conversation will be held close to my heart forever.

While at lunch we decided to try to see Black Panther  and we managed to reserve some tickets online for a 5:30 showing.

Here we are in the the gigantic theater complex near Lincoln Center.

Oh heavens, Black Panther  was incredible! In every way. Stunning. Go see it.

On our walk back to the apartment.

We watched the closing ceremonies as well. Gorgeous and very moving, as always.

Today, I’ll spend some time with Don in the morning and then I’ll head home.

I have to say it’s been an incredible 24 hours.

While cutting over on 43rd Street on my way to the apartment, I saw this. This play is already running in London and is about to open here. I have a few friends who are in the cast. I love what they’ve done with the outside of the theater! And look, way up on the roof:

I think that might be ‘the cursed child.’ Amazing.

Happy Monday.

I’m glad that your meeting went well and I know that your friend’s daughter was glad to find you and hear about the mother she never knew.

That theater front is amazing! It’s sure to draw people in! Safe travels home.

glad the visit went well, especially for your friend’s daughter. what a gift you have given her! and in your words i hear that you benefitted, too. good.

“super hero” movies aren’t my thing so i probably won’t see it, but glad you could get in and enjoyed it with your own super hero. with flowers, too. :)

This movie is beyond superhero – it really resonated with me as to our current political situation and those who will do anything to get power.

I thought about you yesterday and your meeting. I’m so glad it went well and was meaningful. I haven’t been to a movie in so long but I think Black Panther might be a must. I’ve never read Harry Potter or seen the movies but maybe I should try? Sara has all the books and movies! Olympics over and the closing ceremonies were great. Love the Love!

Saying it again: What a gift you gave to your friend’s daughter! Really wonderful, Claudia. I knew my mother for 43 years & yet I STILL love hearing stories from family & friends about her, so I can only imagine how much your meeting with your friend’s daughter meant to her. She will certainly never forget it. PS – love that shot of the “twinkle trees” in NYC. If they’re not up year around, they should be! Peace & have a great week!

That is amazing. I’d want to go to the show just to see the outside of the theatre!

My family have all been to see the Black Panther but I don’t like going to movies ~ weird as I’m married to an actor and he also creates and produces movies. I prefer the comfort of our home so always wait until it comes out online or dvd.

Glad you had another visit with Don and you had a special visit with your friend’s daughter. I’m sure it’s a time you’ll cherish in your memory.

    Safe journey home!

    X Chy

We rarely go to a movie theater as we much prefer watching at home, but this movie was made for the big screen and we were in Manhattan, so why not? (I did have to ask the young woman next to me to put away her phone as she apparently can’t go for two hours without checking her messages.)

What a lovely weekend Claudia. Precious memories are made of special moments like those you spent with your friend’s daughter and with Don later. My grandchildren are Harry Potter fans and I can see a trip to the theatre in the future for the older ones. If you ever come to London you must visit The Harry Potter experience – it’s amazing.. I have knitted 2 Hufflepuff scarves and am about to start a Gryffindor scarf. Keeps me out of mischief!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
