A Pretty Birdcage, A Pretty Sound & a Birthday

September 22, 2009 at 8:14 am by Claudia

Now, that’s a birdcage! I’ve had this photo (from Vignettes) for a while – I took it right before I left San Diego. This rusty, gorgeous piece was easily over 5 feet in height and 4 feet wide. I had to include it for my friend, Donna, who loves a good birdcage. I would have bought it for you, Donna, but as you can see it was already sold.

I have a few photos from California that I haven’t shared yet. Every so often, I’ll post one or two.

I love this bench. Oh yes…I would have happily taken this baby home. Alas, I was flying and this wouldn’t have fit in the overhead compartment. I miss Vignettes. I do.

After some investigation, we think the alarm went off because of a moth. When we took off the cover, a dead moth fluttered to the ground. I am happy to report that all was quiet last night.

Today the piano gets tuned!! I won’t say how long it has been, just know it has been too long. It is so out of tune that I can’t bear to play it. My husband says he misses the sound of the piano and the life and energy it brings to our house. As do I. So today my sweet piano will be tuned and I will play again.

Finally, Happy 90th Birthday to my wonderful father-in-law, Lee!! I love you and wish I was out in sunny California helping you celebrate!

Oh, that is the most lovely bird house. Happy birthday to your father-in-law. Wow, 90 years old. I am glad you are getting your piano tuned. I love listening to the sound of the piano. I wish I had taken piano lessons. But, My Guy plays and that is nice.

I really like that little table!!! I took piano lessons when I was in my 20s . . . didn’t do well, but I so enjoy listening to the piano!

90 is indeed a milestone! My dad is 94! The changes they have seen in their lifetime is amazing!

    Hugs,
    Marsha

Oh, Claudia – you know me so well!!! LOVE that birdcage of epic proportions! I love the bench, too! I’ll bet you do miss Vignettes. Hope you are making beautiful music once again, and I’m glad it was just a pesky moth that set off the alarm!… Donna

Oh, what a beautiful bird cage! Someone is lucky to have taken it home! I love that bench too . . . I have just the place for it . . . sigh . . .

Yes, it’s been too long since I’ve played my piano . . . perhaps I should dust off the keys and give it a whirl!

    Thanks for sharing, Claudia!

Hi nice to meet you! As a photographer lately I’ve been recording sound too. It’s so much fun and I recently recorded singing of people in Congo. If anyone heard them you’d think they had been trained!

We seem to gravitate towards the same objects d’art. I would have attempted to smuggle that bench home, somehow. How unwieldy.

that is one large cage. I’ve only seen one bigger. My Aunt and Uncle used to have a Macaw (I don’t know if that’s spelled right). It was huge and the bird annoyed me greatly. He was a squacker! Especially early in the morning when civilized people were trying to sleep!

A 5 ft birdcage? I can squirm inside! But how beautiful it will look ones one’s home. Too bad it’s already taken.

Aaawwww Claudia, you did mention you had the piano. I can only imagine your excitement. :-) Finally you get to play it again.

    Hi Claudia,

I’ve been out of pocket for a few days, so I’m catching up. Nice of that moth to test your alarm…in the middle of the night, yes?

You are so talented! I should have guessed that you were a musician, as well. I play the violin, but have always wanted to learn the piano.

MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY to your Father-in-Law. What a wonderful milestone.

    Best Wishes,
    Kay

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
