Princess Scout

January 7, 2010 at 12:15 pm by Claudia

I bought 4 pillows like the one above from IKEA when I was in San Diego. They helped to make my temporary lodgings a home. When I returned home in July, I used one of them on the den sofa as it fit in beautifully with the red pillows already on the couch.

Scout loved it. She very quickly claimed it as her own. We have come to the point where Don automatically arranges the pillow for her lounging pleasure as we sit down every evening. She is a nester. Plus, she snores and the pillow helps keep her head propped up. I found one of the other pillows recently and it occurred to me that Scout might like one on her dog bed (in our bedroom.)

She already had this flowery bed. Now we have added more flowers for Pretty Miss Scout. The first night of the new arrangement Scout came to bed after I was already asleep. (She and Riley stay up late with their Dad.) It was dark in the room. But I snuck a peak in her direction early that morning and sure enough, she had found the pillow and was happily sleeping with her head right on it.

I think she likes it.

A girl needs her beauty rest.

I’ve mentioned this before, but for those of you who are newer readers of this blog, Riley will have nothing to do with a dog bed. We’ve tried and tried. He has bad hips and arthritis and my aim is to make him as comfortable as possible. So a dog bed seems like the perfect thing for him, doesn’t it? Nope. He doesn’t like them. Riley’s preferred surface is the floor – right next to my side of the bed. Riley really is all boy and Scout is a girly-girl. There’s room for both here at MHC.

I love that Scout loves her pillows! My Casey ( the big one) will only sleep across the end of my bed. She’ll use the floor too but MY bed is the spot. Molly (the little one) now has 3 beds and uses the couch and any available chair or stool too! She loves to have a spot and is also a nester!! She has blankets in each of her beds to nest in!
Love that she posed for the post!!
    Hugs, Lisa

Oh my gosh, how sweet, Claudia. It looks like a little human bed with the pillow at one end. I remember the day I spotted the dog bed on your blog and said, “that’s the exact same dog bed we have!” Yes, we do love our cottage look!

Well, the princess looks just precious sleeping on her bed!

Isn’t that funny about Riley. You would certainly think he would prefer a comfy, soft surface. But I guess he has his reasons for preferring the floor. Don’t you wish they could talk sometimes?

    Hello Claudia,

Well….Miss Scout knows comfort when she feels it! And beauty is an important factor too. :0) If I put down a frumpy tuffet for Miss Morgan she would stare me down til I put back the pretty one! hehe Furbabies…such lovely creatures, they are. And I guess that hard floor is doing more for the arthritis than we know!

Thanks for visiting me and leaving a comment on my Queen Dressed for the Opera collage..I’ve had such fun creating it.

    Have a lovely day,
    Stephanie

What beautiful coloring Scout has and is a very lucky dog. Maybe I need to get one of those pillows for Bobby G. if it will stop the snoring. :) Happy New Year Claudie! xo Lynn

Awww, just look at that sweet little face! Every fur baby needs a swank bed. Mine has her own little antique wrought iron bed, although Scout’s bedding is a bit more luxe. ;-)

What *would* we do without our lil’ babies in fur coats?

    Have a great weekend!

So sweet! I wish that Hagrid would sleep on a dog bed. I bought him a dog bed, however he… well, let’s just say, you might as well have called the bed “his girlfriend”. Oh well.
I ended up selling “the girlfriend” at my garage sale!

oh my GOSH! She is so adorable with her little feet tucked in tight…head on pillow……I never ONCE thought to put a pillow on the dog bed….but the do love to have their heads elevated a little (like the arm of the couch or chair)
Would Riley sleep on your side of the bed on a folded towel or blanket? Maybe you can start him off gradually….

Hi Claudia, I just found this post.oh what a beautiful girly girl Scout is. and I love the bed, so pretty! Our dogs will all use the dog bed we have on occassion, they prefer the REAL bed or the floor..no place in particular for any of them, its like musical beds at night. thanks for sharing!

What a sweetie! My Bonnie loves to get comfy too and has lately been known to rest her head on my lap while watching TV. Hmm…maybe a pillow is in order? But no, I wouldn’t give up my snuggling for anything! Love those dogs!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
